Did you guys catch John Kerry's speech on CNN? Very good speech. Unfortunately I think what everyone will be talking about is the mixup at CNN. They accidentally mic'd this guy, who I guess was in charge of the balloons and confetti and hoopla in general...his voice feed was played over the air. He was getting all pissed over the balloons not coming down and such, and he's like "What the hell is wrong? Where the fuck are the balloons?" Ahh...that's probably the best thing I've ever seen on live TV.

Wow. Almost makes me wish that I had watched CNN...That really rocks, though. It'll probably be bootlegged on the internet..Should be amusing!

Maybe Jon Stewart will talk about it tomorrow. I didn't watch it on CNN, ot at all. I pretty much don't watch TV anymore. My dad said it was a really good speech though.

I didn't watch on CNN although I was wondering why they didn't drop the balloons sooner. Sorry I missed that.
Also, I thought this topic was going to be about how balloons are annoying. Which was going to lead me to the story about how my dad blew up like 50 balloons for my birthday party and then they were just all over my apartment for like three days, until I decided to pop them all. It was fun!

Wouldnt it suck to have so much of your job performance relying on how quickly and how many balloons fall at a convention? What passion this guy had to have regarding balloon drop technology.
The guy responsible for the confetti can completely understand I'm sure.
The last time this happened was at the DNC in 1980 with Jimma Carter. He finishes his speech, the music starts and literally the balloons are falling damn near 1 at a time. Very funny stuff.
Cant wait to see the snafu's in NYC. |

I knew the guy would drop the F-bomb...I was flipping between FOX News and CNN and I heard the audio track of the guy talking...I was like "uh, this shouldn't be happening," and you could tell he was getting more and more pissed off. It was great.

you are right that was one of the funniest things...my husband and I were laughing our butts off. ok not to be too parinoid, but do you think there is any coincidence that Time Warner who owns CNN was GW Bush's biggest contribuitor....was it something to divert the attention away from Kerry?
The lesson of all this is if you are around mics or cameras of ANY kind, don't do or say anything you don't want bradcasted. |

Was it funnier than Leslie Nielsen in Naked Gun going to the tiolet at a press conference with the mic still on? |

I was at the Sonic Youth concert in Chicago. Thurston said (paraphrased) "Thanks for choosing this concert over the John Kerry speech. But I hope you'll vote for him because I don't want to see what's-his-name again... Fuckface. That it's. I don't want to see Fuckface again."
A moment later, Thurston said, "As a wise man once said, 'Women of the world, take over.'" Which is from a Jim O'Rourke song. Jim O'Rourke is awesome. It was great to see him rocking out.
