No Count Duckula?!
I was going to say Captain Planet, because he's a hero, and going to take pollution down to zero, which is always nice, but he was 1990, and therefore fails to meet your criteria.

I had the MASK board game. I think it might still be at my parent's house. Thundercat's was pretty great also. I'm particuarly fond of the GI Joe cartoons.

Huge G.I. Joe fan here. More so the comic than the cartoon show.
Remember Dino-Riders!?! I loved that.
Thundercats rocked, too.
Um... so many shows. Fat Albert! I don't remember the show too well though. Probably can't even recall the plot of a single episode. That's going way back.

God, I love those GI Joe fake PSAs...the fire one (Pork chop sandwiches!) is my favorite, probably. I also love the quote "Nice catch, blanco nino, too bad your ass got saaaaaaaaaaaaaacked."
I guess I just wasn't made for these times. |

Ooooh, body massage. Body massage. Who wants a body massage?
Those things are great. I've shown them to other people but no one really gets them.

YES! Count Duckula is most deserving of the first reply! I love that show and have DLed the DVD rips from the UK.
No one ever remembers Dinosaucers or Poochie (of which there is only one episode that I can find).

Grouchy old man comment: I remember when cartoons weren't accompanied by a raft of action figures and commercial tie ins. So, 80's cartoons to me were weak. GI Joe, Transformers, He-Man; they can all rot in hell. Bugs Bunny and friends, the Pink Panther, and Hong Kong Fuey can walk all over those punks. |

i always thought G.I. Joe was a bit 'gay'
count duckula wasn't added as it's on TV all the time still.
And it's hard to be a human being, and it's harder as anything else, and I'm lonesome when you're around, and I'm never lonesome when I'm by myself, and I miss you when you're around. |

I gotta agree that Count Duckula rocks. But, one who also rocks, and does not appear to be mentioned as of yet goes by the name of Captain Caveman.
I love me some Captain Caveman.

C'mon!
'Battle Of The Planets' was a classic cartoon...
and 'Cities Of Gold' had a very catchy theme tune.

Why has no-one mentioned Fraggle Rock? Man I loved that show….
Also, gotta agree with Darwin about Hong Kong Phuey – absolutely brilliant and also Danger Mouse….
And whats the one with “stop the pigeon, stop the pigeon” song? Can’t remember whats it’s called….
Cartoons these days are nowhere near as classy. Only one I have ever watched and liked is Sponge Bob Square Pants, which is hilarious.

Mask and Thundercats were great but the best was no doubt Miyazaki's Sherlock Holmes ! City Hunter and Cat's Eyes were good too. |

Fraggle Rock isn't a cartoon Benji!
Stop the pigeon, I can't believe I forgot that one. It's 'Dastardly and Muttley's Flying Machines', I think. That was excellent. Crash him smash him bash him!

Boomerang on SkyDigital shows Wacky Races. Inbetween Dangermouse, Garfield, Scooby Doo, the Flintstones, Looney tunes, Tom and Jerry and Captain Caveman. Me and my 3 year old spend hours watching that stuff. Thats not good is it?!?! |

Loved Johnny Quest, the Smurfs (which is a pretty horrible cartoon really), School House Rocks, The Snorks (anyone remember them?), Jem (and the Rockers!), Bugs Bunny Hour.
Also always loved Fraggle Rock and the Muppet Show. I am very tempted by the new releases of the Muppet Show on video and DVD.

I think the french ripped it off though;
Those are some scary-ass shape shifters I tell ya ;)
Am I still in the 80s? Not sure. |

Man, remember USA's Cartoon Express (USA is a cable TV channel)? That used to be *the SHIT*. They had all sorts of cartoons on there...some of the above mentioned...they had Dragon's Lair, Pac Man, The Snorks, The Shirttail Gang...that was the best, man. Then they started butchering it, then eventually it disappeared.
I guess I just wasn't made for these times. |

I agree with Dogtantion, a total classic.
My other favourite's are really girly, My Little Pony, Rainbow Brite, Care bears, do any of you other girls remeber these? I don't even know if they were shown outside the UK. |

Is this the one that was like japanese animation and they are trying to save the world/universe, at the beginning of each episode they say how many days left to save the world/universe? I loved that show, never saw how it ended though? I'm guessing they saved the world/universe or else we wouldn't be here.
