ja, as next go for the orange (yellow) one. to get into fb&c, i would recommend to start with dog in the sand.

but of course, get them all. maybe the best idea is to purchase or listen to them in their chronological order (together with the pixies albums), to get an insight into the incredible evolution, talent and vision of the man.

ah jesus, welcome to the world and web of frank black. been bit overtaken by the pixies at the mo but any news on the man you'll probably hear here first.

to you and mr francis, just had to back up the ones who recommend all of them. i know it will dent the wallet but in time. been with the Frank since the P's and every album release you'd find medown the store with my 20 in my hand waiting for delivery. every album has amazed me, theres stuff on each one that seperates it from the rest, songs, riffs, just franks singing here and there. genius.
a compilation would be grand but read the forum, it seems pretty near impossible to complete the idea. there are just too many songs and not enough space.

sorry, me and my tangents. try and get them all.

Best to get back on the chronological track --- the true FB experience. Let each album grow on you before you move on to the next album. You'll be happy.

2. You must be wearing Zubaz, 'cause you're daring to be different.
3. I am a man with 3 fingers...but that doesn't count my index finger nor my thumb.

Pick with your eyes closed. They're all good. Chronological seems good, but you know, that's probably coming from people who have been naturally doing it chronologically because they've been fans for years and just have to wait til the next new album comes out..

I got into Tom Waits 5 years ago and I definitely didn't buy his albums chronologically. It doesn't mean I don't "get it" or won't become a huge Tom Waits fan because everything seems so wrong and out of chronological order. You'll understand the progression of FB's career once you have all the albums - no matter what order you buy them in. Just buy an album a month. They're all good.

Well, you're talking to an accountant here...I do everything chronologically or alphabetically.

I agree with all of the above. The beautiful thing is that every album's unique, every album's brilliant...If I had to pick, I'd say go with the next one you purchase.

I don't know.

I'd say to go for the orange/yellow (i.e., self-titled) album next. They're all good, though.

Have you already heard all of the Pixies' albums, Black_francis_?

Wouldn't an accountant buy whichever CD was cheapest at purchase time?
I'm not an accountant but that's how I buy my CD's, take a list of 10 or so and buy the cheapest 5.

You can get the first eponymous one for £5 in places like HMV and Fopp. And it's the next best after Teenager.

Why not just get them all? You'll want to eventually. Save yourself the heartache now.

Martha said it best. All Frank's works are brilliant and unique. Give each one time to grow on you. You'll buy 'em all, and you'll be "Frankafied "to the bone... Oh, and you should go with the Orange album next, in my opinion.

Dear Black francis, just very good? That's what I thought the first couple of times I heard the album.

The chronological idea is fine, but you should also use real-time, forced to wait interminably for albums that are already recorded, but not for you.

This will make you appreciate what you do have, and you will buy every single EP and compilation just so you can get new material.
