Just got back from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. I just moved to Minnesota, I state that makes you retake your written drivers exam when you move there. My husband flunked when he went a few weeks ago so today I read an 88 page manual. I also took extra time getting ready to look nice in my picture. So I drive thru traffic and get there at 3:46. The employee there said that they quit accepting people at 3:45. There was nothing on there answering machine, in the phone book, or at the actual office that says they quit taking people at 3:45. They close at 5 so I thought I was cool. I complained but they said that then that would mean that they would have to take people running 2...3...and 4 minutes late. I am just pissed I wasted a whole afternoon on this. I was wondering if anyone else had any stories from DMV hell....

if you join AAA you can sidestep a lot of the DMV bullshit.

not to advertise for AAA, but it's nice

Any benefits if you join AA?

I have a few. But all I have time for now is some pearls of Primus wisdom:

I’ve been to hell. I spell it...i spell it dmv
Anyone that’s been there knows precisely what I mean
Stood there and I’ve waited and choked back the urge to scream
And if I had my druthers I’d screw a chimpanzee-call it pointless

When I need relief I spell it thc
Perhpas you may know vaguely what I mean
I sit back and smoke away huge chunks of memory
As I slowly inflict upon myself a full lobotomy-call it pointless

Barbecues, tea kettles, gobs of axle grease
There comes a time for every man to sail the seas of cheese
Now, life’s a bowl of bagel dogs, but there are unpleasantries
Cold toilet seats, dentist chairs and trips to dmv-call it pointless

I’ve been to hell. I spell it...i spell it dmv
Anyone that’s been there knows precisely what I mean
I’ve stood in line and waited near an hour and fifteen
And if I had my druthers I’d screw that chimpanzee-call it pointless

No real stories from hell, though once, back when I was with The Bennies, we had a show in Philly. We went into a music store to check it out, and we returned to find Brett's minivan had been towed...shit. So, while he and Jack went to pick it up, Jeremy and I sat for quite a while in the DMV. It was a very interesting scene. I wish I were able to video tape it. One part I do remember is the lady at the counter talking about people taking other people's license plates off their cars and driving around with them, then returning them. Weird.

I guess I just wasn't made for these times.

Floop...I have AAA did I just not get them the secret AAA handshake?? How do you swing the AAA loophole?

Wow Apl...you can make cool visual art and awesome funny poetry too... I am impressed.

El Barto you crack me up.

My DMV rage was subsided with Thai and then transfered while watching Farenheit (sp?) 9/11. Hopefully it will go more smoothly next Friday...thanks for your stories.
