apologies if there already exists such a thread, but going to T-in-the-Park tomorrow, so making a couple of tapes for the 4 hour journey, one is quite cheesy/older stuff, the other is newer indie stuff... anyone got any recommondations? no fb.

Kind of obvious, floopus... Doesn't mean I wasn't going to suggest it.
How about Ace Of Spades - it was voted most likely to cause road rage...

Scratch Acid - "Owner's Lament"
Absolutely beautiful driving song. Pulsing and soaring - gorgeous strings against Yow's red howls and the sweet sweet tumbling processional drums. I have been stuck on this song a lot lately. RIP Little Bucharest: Yuppies. They don't eat goulash. |

that's why i suggested it cheesester.
i think all music is good for road trips. i drove cross-country across the entire US twice in the past two years. i'm no stranger to those long roads with the cd cranking.
i think on longer trips you're more likely to appreciate those songs that are super-long, that you otherwise might not have the patience for.

true. we went to wales not long ago, i had 'road to no where' on by talking heads, was quite funny the first few times but after a while... got a bit annoying. so i'm making 2 90 minute tapes this time. so i'll hopefully not ruin any songs for us this time. i can never listen to boy with the arab strap anymore either thanks to much overplay in car journeys... and you come to expect a certain song to come on after another one, because you've heard them follow each other so much on the tape... that's annoying.

I was gonna suggest Ace Of Spades too.
You should try what my friends and I played in Australia, whilst driving through the desert. We played The End by The Doors. If you can make it through that many miles of desert, with no human contact, with that song playing. You can survive anything.
Oh there is no desert on the way to Scotland is there?
Ace Of Spades then.

Hey Opaque, sounds like it could be great driving somewhere with you.
I also want to mention Under The Milky Way - The Church for driving at night. Lovely.

How come noone mentioned Chris Isaac? Blue Hotel?
Tom Petty's Last Dance with Mary Jane would be a good choice too.
If you are stuck in a traffic jam, the best song is Panthera - Walk. |

Chris Isaac's Vicious Game playing during the creepy crashed car scene in Wild At Heart makes me rather not listen to Isaac in a car.
