Having grown up around the word "like" being inserted as a pause in sentences, similar to "um," it has worked it's way into my everyday speak, and I have realized this must stop. No one has ever even said anything to me about it since it's so common amongst my generation. But I'm realizing that it can be distracting to people who aren't used to it, and I just don't want to sound LIKE that. So I'm going to have to make a conscious effort to keep the word out of my sentences as much as possible.

Hey, if there were more people here saying more interesting things, I wouldn't be bored and feel compelled to start new topics to try to get things moving in the conversation department.

Actually there are alot of good topics, but 10 "AC" topics and 27 other lame topics move them all to page 3.
Every thought or idea that people come up with does not need a thread of its own.

I have been trying to replace the "like"s and "um"s in my speech with other utterances, like "mealworm" and "urgh". So far it is achieveing the desired result.

Yeah, I think the AC thing was my fault, since there was the one topic with AC in the name and I jokingly made the AC Slater topic. Everyone followed. Can't help it that I'm a trendsetter.

I kind of like when the board has some creative association and word-play going on. I think what tips the scales for me is stuff like the thread-jacking. It's like being ambushed in like every single topic, you never know when it's going to hit, but it inevitably always, like, does.

Not a bad idea. I might understand the behavior of my peers - like that whole going out to the bar thing. How the hell can you enjoy yourself when you can't hear anyone, the beer tastes bad and is expensive... the only way to hear people is be right next to their face and then they spit all over you when they're talking... AGH!

Every thread becomes back and forth bullshit banter from the Englanders. Top culprits include GD and HPM...possible BB and CM1000. That's pretty much the 4 major Englanders. Maybe not EVERY thread, but at least 75% of them.

I say "like" too much as well. I don't mean to or want to. And I'm pretty sure that there was a point in time when this was not the case. But I do like the suggestion of trying to use the word "mealworm" instead. Mebbe that might work out.
