The chances of getting some good quality Pixies video from this seem quite high - the BBC are showing 4 hours of live coverage from the Sunday on BBC 3 between 1900-2300 - just the right time to catch the Pixies set. In addition, there is an hour long highlights program on after midnight on the Sunday.
BBC 2 Scotland will also have 6 30-minute highlights shows on for 6 weeks after the event.

The BBC channels are broadcast Free to Air via digital satellite, so anyone with a capable receiver or satellite card in their PC who can see the satellite can record the digital bitstream as it's broadcast. |

I doubt if the management will let anybody record the Pixies... They didn't allow Pinkpop to be recorded and it doesn't look like Werchter will be web/broadcast aswell. But we can always hope, can we not?

I'm with frankvink if the pixies allowed cameras we would have already seen some footage from pinkpop or other festivals

I'll be right down the front too!
I've been sent a list of the times on stage for the various acts on Sunday. The breakdown is as follows:
MAIN STAGE 21.30 22.45 The Strokes 19.50 21.00 Pixies 18.30 19.20 Kings Of Leon 17.10 18.00 PJ Harvey 15.55 16.40 The Thrills 14.40 15.25 Franz Ferdinand 13.30 14.10 Scissor Sisters 12.35 13.05 Goldie Lookin Chain
For me, the lineup is in the wrong order - no way should the Strokes be headlining when the Pixies are playing.
Don't forget to use your beer tokens before the Pixies start - the bars shut between 9pm -9.30pm! |

could be I'm just overal surprised that the pixies are such a big thing on euro-festivals I believe the reunion is also a hype were I was standing in Werchter there were lots of people who didn't no squad about the pixies they just came because they heard so much about them I'm not against it anyway but to me it looks like the organization of the festivals try to raise the people, like:,,This is a great band, and if you don't know it yet, well, go check them out, ofcourse it's a great band, we put them on the second spot.''
just some thought

If I were the Strokes I'd insist the Pixies headline, as the Townsend did for Hendrix at Montery. and as good as they are the strokes are no Who |

From today's BBC Three listings on BBC.co.uk ;
"The second day of the music festival at Balado in Kinross features The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Pixies, Kings of Leon, Scissor Sisters, Massive Attack, N*E*R*D. Contains strobing. Then 60 Seconds"

they were just going into something against you when they cut to whatever they cut to. i can't imagine that's all they'll play, it's the pixies for crying out loud! if any tv people are going to appreciate the pixies, it's the BBC.

btw, i recorded the whole of the show on dvd. i know there's not much of the pixies, but there's hardly any video footage of their reunion. i'll try to get it on my computer, but i recorded it on DVD+RW and i'm not sure if that's compatable with my computer. i should have recorded it do a DVD R but i was worried they wouldn't show anything of them at all and it would be a waste of a DVD.

I did watch the show too, and I'd be interested to discover exactly how many songs were actually aired, as opposed to the dreary talky nonsense that seemed to be taking up far too much time. The Pixies weren't hard done by compared to everything else; whatever one thinks of the Strokes, they were the bloody headliners and I think it was only about 15 minutes of them too. Is it a contractual thing? Can't have been more than about 20 songs shown in a four hour show. |

Spot on Peter - alot of 'dreary nonsense' spoken by absolutely dreadful presenters who kept repeating themselves. The Scottish lad in the leather jacket had the most annoying voice as well! We're spoilt for choice they kept telling me and then not showing anything!! Aaargh! Alot of banal interviewing with band members looking bemused by the inane questions that were directed at them.
I was watching the TV to see live music not to hear the presenters banal drivelling!
Anyway ITV are showing Move next weekend so hopefully more Pixies then. |

John, thinking about the demographic that ITV sees as its target audience, I think we can expect wall-to-wall Stereophonics, with the occasional (no, actually make that "frequent") adverts in between. |

I was there. Awesome!!! Will try post a set list later. Got some nice pics aswell.
The whole show will have been recorded as it was the BBC who supplied the live feed to the big screens either side of the stage.
I would presume the reason they allowed the set to be filmed was because it was the BBC and not some nasty commercial station. |

When I got back from the gig I checked my sat box, and it had recorded the programming on BBC3 and BBC1. I'll be trying to make up a DVD of the exact bitstream as broadcast when I get the chance.
The nme have a report and setlist here: http://www.nme.com/news/109131.htm
Surprisingly for the nme, the setlist looks just about correct.
It was an amazing gig- I was surprised so many of the festival crowd were singing along. The crowd had a good time, and it looked like the pixies had a good time too. And instead of the usual "in heaven -into- wave of mutilation (uk surf)" we got treated to "in heaven -into- where is my mind"
For info, here's the setlist as reported by the nme-
Planet Of Sound Bone Machine Broken Face Something Against You Isla De Encanta Monkey Gone To Heaven U-Mass Velouria No. 13 Baby I Bleed Dead Wave Of Mutilation Debaser Gouge Away Tame Hey Gigantic Caribou In Heaven Where Is My Mind? Nimrod’s Son Here Comes Your Man Vamos

I think the band were quite taken aback the reception they got from the crowd! They were definately the sole reason for many people being at the festival.
I'm sure they would have played on if the could have.
Frank was in great form and the band genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves. Long may it continue.

theres a bittorrent of all three(!) songs being seeded here: http://bt.easytree.org/torrents-details.php?id=1936 they are in dvd pal mpeg format... The person that has seeded them has produced other excellent tv rips so expect the quality to be top notch.... |

just to say, pixies were amazing. i think in terms of what they played and how they played it, i enjoyed it more than the saturday brixton show... shame the sound wasn't as good and i had some uninterested strokes fans around me...

Thanks Chrissybaby, I've downloaded from the link you've posted. Perfect quality as you expected. The songs are Bone Machine, Broken Face and Debaser. It brings back great memories from when I saw the Pixies a month ago.

What do you need to do to make this work? I downloaded the Bittorrent, and downloaded the show from the link, but the media player won't play it. What am I missing? |

Mine played through Windows Mediaplayer straightaway. You have to open the folder which you've downloaded and click on the file with the Mediaplayer icon. I burned the DVD with Roxio DVD creator and it plays well on my DVD too.
