Not sure if this is a nice sentiment, or a bitchy thought, but its interesting that Kim now effectively sings lead on twice as many Pixies songs since they reformed (from 2 to 4).
I have this image of Frank kinda pleading with Kim - "hey, come on, lets reform..." And Kims all like "Well, ok, I guess, but only if I get to sing some of the songs" and Franks all like "Oh, gee, well ok, but can I do the screamy bits?" and Kims all "Well ok, but you've got to let Joey do his guitary bits without looking bored... and give Dave his wand back..."

I suspect, if "Bam Thwok" is anything to go by, then we're witnessing a new slightly laid back Frank Black being slightly less controlling? I doubt there's much politicking behiind it.
The Pixies just wanna have fun. etc.
Good thing too. I love Kim. |

I think we've been witnessing a new slightly laid back Frank Black for the last few years.

Yes. That should have been 'new, laid-back Black Francis.' Which is new.

No worries. You're right.
I was concentrating on typing 'black' and 'back' consecutively too much to worry over such things...

well if you look at it realisticly, they're all grown up. they are all in the Pixies. Let Kim sing.
God, look at the Minni show. Dave fucking sings!!!!! for the first time ever live!
its about them all being part of the band now. Which is nice.

Apparantly this is how it went: Frank: The boys and I have decided to get the band back together.
Kim: Have fun with it, I'm touring with the Breeders.
Frank: It's all of us or no reunion.
Kim: Hmmmm...I guess my career needs a boost. I'll only do it if we play my songs.
Frank: No way jose, it's my band.
Kim: Well I ain't doing the shows. Frank: Not for $5 mil?
Kim: Nup. I can still live of my Last Splash, Gigantic and Firestarter royalties.
Frank: Ok then. Let's cut a deal. You get to do three songs per album, Dave and Joey each get to do one, and I get 14.
Kim: If I get to do the first single I'll consider it.
Frank: hmmm....I guess you had the first single in the old days with Gigantic, so why not.
Kim: I got this song that goes Bam Thwok....
So...it was business, not peace!!! |

When I heard Kim doing 'In Heaven' in thought it was a new song-Joey's weird lead guitar also contributed to this mix-up.... |

I dunno if I can dissect it down that far... but I'm pretty sure I'm feeling the buzz and modulations of the universe over here. Or some such hopefully got that quote right sentiment of sorts.

The Prodigy used a bit of The Breeders 'SOS' from the Last Splash, for their 'Firestarter' single... |
