Ah... yes! The ol' alien/human hybrid philosophy. Worth pondering.

I'd always thought it was a warning against cloning plus a bunch of other deep stuff that I didn't get but sounded good. I'm glad I conquered my fear of cyber world to sit in on FB101. Sometimes I feel like I wound up in a more advanced class by mistake. His lyrics are not only densely Byzantine, they're also a kalidescopic smorgasbord of multifaceted hidden meanings.

watched the henry the eighth miniseries on tv last night. good flick. lots of sex and violence. however, mrs. fumanbru didn't appreciate the movie as much as she thought it was slightly disturbing but she did enjoy the history lesson.

here's my take on all my ghosts after watching the movie. i'm looking at the song from the perspective of henry the eighth.

If I could live to be several hundred
I could take a walk and really wander
Really wonder

henry is dead and is reflecting on his life on earth. i like how frank has the line "really wander", then "really wonder".

Have you heard about the heavenly angels
How they came to earth and met some ladies
With whom they mated?
And their young became giants every one

this was discussed before. angels from heaven, lusted women of the earth, mated with them, and then were kicked out of heaven by god and sent to hell "...These are the angels who mated with humans, producing 'god kings' (ie. hank the eighth) who wrought havoc upon the earth with their misuse of advanced science.."

I was driving across the valley floor
Going past a scene of gore

in the movie when his dad was dying and henry was about to become king, his dad asked him what is the role of the king. henry responded by saying to make glorious war and expand our borders....and to have a son. got to make sure there's a new king to carry on the family tradition. henry loved to use his army to kill his enemies and wage war on other countries.

Then I stopped in at a porno store

And I found among the pictures there
A vision that was very fair
Just a moment from yesteryear
All I could do was stare

henry viewed women as sex objects. he had no respect for women and thought their sole purpose was to gratify him sexually and provide a son for him. he had 6 wives and many mistresses and he had 2 of his wives beheaded.

I had a date for the eleventh hour
And we took a tour of The Seven Horrors
Plus just one more
Hank the Eighth was a duplicated man

then maybe, as apl4eris was sort of saying, at the time of his death he is seeing his life go by -all my ghosts, a ghost tour, seeing all the pain and misfortune he caused.

Did I say that? I think that may have been someone else, because I had a different take on it entirely.

Seems like the points he makes/metaphors he uses are pretty universal -the interpretations are (arguably) endless, which is mystifying and exciting at the same time.

i would agree that you had a different take entirely- which i really enjoyed. i think you had used the term "ghost tour". i was just referring to that term in my last comment, which is in a slightly different context. i kind of see it as henry is going on a ghost tour of his whole life and he sees how freaky and disturbing it was.

Hey! Nice imagery there!

Those websites about giants are pretty entertaining. What a great read. But I am baffled as to why there would be a conspiracy to cover up the existence of giants. I mean, it's not like the government wants to hide midget bones. But if they do start hiding them, we can all probably safely conclude that they were really Hobbits and as such, the world must be protected from such knowledge. Hehehehehehehehe.

This is numerical code, typical of FB who as we know uses a lot of tricks like this.
My guess is that it represents a date: first line = 11, second and third = 7+1 or 8, fourth line = 82 (8 and duplicated, or 2) or possibly 88 (8 duplicated).
So that would give us November 8, 1982 or November 8, 1988. Perhaps something significant in FB's personal life or relevant to the Pixies?

Course I could be way off.

Follow-up: On November 8, 1988, George H.W. Bush and Dan Quayle were elected President and Vice-President of the United States. FB never gets political tho.

Maybe people were so interested in the election that they didn't notice the fact that Henry VIII was cloned that day.
