Well Totti won't play (suspended for 3 matches) so my bet is on Sweden.

What a line up by the way: Alan Hansen, Gordon Strachan and Ian Wright.
My money's on Greece and Spain to go through - if all goes to form, England should get Greece in the quarters. Much as I like em, England will win that one.
Update again: Day 6
England 3 - Switzerland 0
France 2 - Croatia 2
Although England weren't fabulous, they still beat Switzerland convincingly. France struggled a little more, with Croatia coming back from 1-0 down to 2-1 up, before a late-ish Trezeguet equaliser.
Group B
1) France (P2 W1 D1 L0 F4 A3 4pts) 2) England (P2 W1 D0 L1 F4 A2 3pts) 3) Croatia (P2 W0 D2 L0 F2 A2 2pts) 4) Switzerland (P2 W0 D1 L1 F0 A3 1pt)

I love cheering on the underdogs especially when they start surprising people. England's got skill, but Greece have spirit and a liquor they call Ouzo. I still pick Greece.

To be fair, its not like your not biased. Anyway, I had something more potent the other day... Along similar lines, but from Cyprus? I forget the name, but it made ouzo seem like baby milk.

People were cheering Croatia on in the pub I was in. I was forced to grab the kareoke mic and tell them that we want Croatia not to win, then we only need a point. I than sang Hotel California completely off key. That'll teach em!

Damn! The French can't play 2 good matches in a row... Same thing happens with rugby. As soon as they get confidence by winning a game, they think nothing can stop them and play like shit.

The worst thing is that the whole team relies on Zidane, just like in 2002. And by seeing how everyone in the opposite team wants to break his legs, if he's hurt again we won't score a single goal.

Pires is too slow!
Henry sucks, he's good in the English championship because there's plenty of room for him. But during this Euro, they try to attack in the center each time, and each time they fail.
Individually, our players are OK (except Dessailly, and I really don't like Pires), but our strategy isn't working!

Yay! Go Sweden! Also: ick! ZZ chucks his guts before England penalty shocker.
Euro 2004 Day 7
Denmark 2 - Bulgaria 0
Italy 1 - Sweden 0
Denmark continue with some fine play against a really poor Bulgaria, who it appears are fighting it out for the wooden spoon. Italy did what Italy do best - scored one and shut down the match. Yet despite some fantastic defending, and one or two fantastic saves from Buffon, Sweden managed to scrabble back and salvage the draw. An awesome goal from Ibrahimovic in possibly the best match of the tournament so far.
Group C
1) Sweden (P2 W1 D1 L0 F6 A1 4pts) 2) Denmark (P2 W1 D1 L0 F2 A0 4pts) 3) Italy (P2 W0 D2 L0 F1 A1 2pts) 4) Bulgaria (P2 W0 D0 L2 F0 A7 0pts)

Euro 2004 Day 8
Germany 0 - Latvia 0
Holland 2 - Czech Republic 3
The first match enables to me to confirm with glee that Germany suck: Latvia now have their first points in a major tournament, ever. The Holland/Czech match turns out to be a thriller, the Czech Rep coming back from 2-0 down to become the only team in the tournament to win their first two matches, thus becoming the first team to qualify for the quarter finals.
Group D
1) Czech Republic (P2 W2 D0 L0 F5 A3 6pts) *qualified 2) Germany (P2 W0 D2 L0 F0 A0 2pts) 3) Holland (P2 W0 D1 L1 F2 A3 1pt) 4) Latvia (P2 W0 D1 L1 F1 A2 1pt)

We got too little it was definately not good that we lost We got screwed by the referee one penalty at least and no way that that second yellow for heitinga was justice The Czechs are great players and they deserve to win this poule but no way do we deserve to lose and end as third and go home
Damn it! we were so good in the first half!

Yeah, Holland were fantastic in the first half, I wasn´t expecting that kind of quality from the dutch at all. The Czech are very strong as well, Germany will have to do something special to beat them. Tomorrow, Portugal and Spain play for a place in the next round. Spanish papers have been saying that the referees are helping Portugal and all kinds of other stuff. Meanwhile, Scollari said he doesn´t want to speak to spanish journalists, that this is a war and it´s either kill or be killed. The game should be interesting... I can´t see Portugal winning, but who knows. |

I watched the Holland Czech match last night, what a great game! I feel for Holland though, the referee was utterly hopeless. They are not out yet are they Billgoodman?

Will Czech Rep. put out their best side against Germany when they have already won the group (and 143 pounds for me in doing so)? I am not so sure. It will be harsh on Holland though, if they were to go out 'cos the Czechs rested half of their team.

Actually I have won about 260 pounds in total so far. However, I spent 360 pounds on bets on Euro '04. I still don't have all my money back yet. More bets to be decided. Besides, Mel hates me now so I couldn't go anyway.

On the downside, England will now probably have to play Portugal if we get to the next round, instead of Greece. Oh well, we are capable of beating anyone on our day.

I understand it if you look at the last couple of years not qualified for worldchamionship in 2002 and we played some horrible games before this tournament
But if you look how good we play the actuall tournaments both worldchampion and eurochampion
winner in 88 don't know about 90 semi final in 92 quarter final in 94 quarter final in 96 semi final 98 semi final 2000 not attending 2002
we have a nice history don't you think?

You´re right, of course, it´s just that Holland didn´t seem that strong in the qualifying stages and I thought they were disapointing against Germany. The czechs are a very strong side and the manner in which Holland dominated them in the first half was just surprising to me. Portugal was spectacular against Spain tonight. I guess we´ll play England next. |

Are you sure France will beat Switzerland ? Everything can happen : France-Portugal and England or Croatia vs Greece. (I can't imagine next round without France ... but it's possible ... you don't win a game before playing it).
Take a look at www.giava.com It's an italian games site where you can play a funny game called "sputa con Totti" (spit with Totti) and if you win, you go in holiday with Totti's girl.

No LUTINS, Frei doesn't seem to have his own game. But I think he lost his credibility and honor because of his lies.
So, MCA, I was happy about Greece good results ... but that's ok now, we've got the point : little teams (meaning "not favourite ones" ... no offense) can beat better ones ! You can go back home now with honor and dignity, after losing against France (if only ...).
Are there italian people over here ? Sorry guys, in 2000 you had opened the champagne bottles too early in final, and now you score and think you're qualified ... and no, you're out ! ... hard to get over it ...

I do hope the scores stay as they are. I want Germany out. They are currently drawing 1-1 with Czech Rep. reserves. Ruud has put Holland 2-0 up over Latvia. What a man. You're opinion of him changing Bill? Seeing as he is single handedly taking you to the quarter finals as I type this.
I have won yet more money on Euro 2004. Pretty much got money back now, with more bets to be decided yet so it's all a bonus from here. My winnings so far stand at 345 pounds.
