Scream by the Misfits.

The video for "Scream" was directed by George Romero... Pretty bad video though. There are a few Michale Graves era Misfits songs that I like, but Graves is absolutely horrible in his solo act, I had the misfortune of seeing him live a few weeks back.

I haven't seen any really bad shows lately. Well, I don't get to go to that many of them since most involve travelling from here. But the ones I have seen have been good. Notably Sebadoh & Shellac recently.

The tune has now changed over to "Wish Fulfillment" by Sonic Youth. Think mebbe I'm feeling a lil bit retro today.

Yeah Graves and his shitty little band came close by I wouldn't have dreamed of driving to see them. It was him and some band that sounded like a bad Misfits cover group. His newer stuff sounded likely shitty Nirvana songs with Misfits lyrics. Whenever he thought he need to win back the crowd he'd play a new Misfits b-side that no one knew or liked, I have no idea what the logic was there if he wants to pander he should at least do an old Misfits song that people will recognize and enjoy even if he had nothing to do with writing it or performing it well. I've seen him live with the Misfits and in this setting and while he might seem to have a decent voice on records he has absolutely nothing live, the man can barely carry a tune.

Does anyone remember the Jimmy Eat World single from like a year and a half ago where the backing vocalist just kept saying "crimson and clover over and over" through the entire fucking song, it wasn't a cover, just an homage I think, but that song was absolute shit.

Right now I've got my own song "Haircut" stuck in my head. You'd think it'd be gratifying to have your own song stuck in your head, but I'm sick of it! My band has a show next Wednesday at Stork Club in Oakland and I've been emailing tons of people with the link to our demo. (Although Crimson and Clover is sneaking into my head now. Weird, you read the words, and it's in your head.) If you're interested the song is here:

Ok, the link was working all day, oh well, no more. It's not stuck in my head anymore, my coworker is listening to some really bad Chinese pop.

I've had "Stalk Of Wheat" stuck in my head quite a bit as of late. It'll be on the next They Might Be Giants album.
