canada is having an election june 28th, and on the news this morning i learned of a televised debate being scheduled soon.

now, i don't support the green party, but the CBC is excluding them from this televised debate that could greatly benifit their cause. a good portion of the general population has never even heard of the green party.

the reasoning behind this being the green party has never held a seat in parliment before. silly it seems that you have to be a bonifide politician before youre taken seriously around these parts. even if your party is currently runng 9% in the polls.

i know the states has had the same dealings with nader, and he's been down right ejected from debates because he's never recieved an invitation.

heres my question.

is it truely democratic to exclude a party for a nationally televised debate? a debate that reaches hundereds and thousands of potential voters and supporters? does this reasoning seem justifiable? what are they afraid of? competition?

if alternative choices are looked down upon and go unsolicited by media outlets, it seems to me, that we are not living in as free a society as politicians would like us to think.

some choice.

Yeah, I agree with you... if they meet the prerequisites of having one constituent in every riding across the country, then they SHOULD be included. I don't understand why the Bloq are in there, personally...

It's worse still when it's a government funded station.
