Here's some I like

"I get my MSG, from digital TV" Mclusky - 'Without MSG I'm Nothing'

"Now, I'm not the world's most physical guy, but when she hold me close, she almost broke my spine" The Kinks - 'Lola'

"Why don't you all just f-f-f-f-fade away?" The Who - 'My Generation'

"Everywhere I go I want to travel by Maglev"

I prefer the Quadrophenia version of My Generation: Why don't you all just FUCK OFF!

"Creep up on you like celery/ Yeah, I'm stalking/ I squeak like Stephen Hawking/ Yeah, but I'm walking"

"Like a scrotum, here it is in a nutshell"

"The morn' that I was born my old man beat up the doctor/ He clocked
the doctor cause the doctor said I looked like Chewbacca/ The doctor said sir you're misled sir which infers you mistook me/ I did not mean your lovely wife was shackin' up with a wookie/ What I mean is Wolverine is less hairy than your son/ He's looks like Chewie Baba Booey Baba Booey and Hong Kong Phooey all in one/ To put it mild your new-born child's completely nutty fu-fu lookin/ I'd shove him back into the oven until he is done cookin'"

"About as popular with the girls as Englebert Humperdink/ And that might be 'cause everybody calls me Shrinky Dink/ I know I'm known as Polaroid I'm not a total retard/ It's cause I'm done in sixty seconds and you'll still want it enlarged"

"You gotta watch the mota, Thurston. Yr fuckin memory just goes out the window."

This is one of the best verses I've ever heard:

I saw the railway master and I looked him in the eye
I said, "Would you go much faster if you thought that you would die?"
He said, "Not me sir, I could not care, in fact, I would not try.
For protest would not take me far.
It's different, me not being a star."
I lock my feelings in a jar until another day

"Name of the Game", by Badfinger, from the album "STRAIGHT UP" (1971).

Some of these are realy great. Please tell us what they're from.

Samson and Delilah, talkin' 'bout groomin'
Delilah said "Sam, you don't look human"
She took some scissors, went snip snip
Said "Now everybody's gonna think you're hip"
Sam felt his head and said
"All women are bad"

Take it out of me put it in your bed, polish it for sale, add a hand rail and sell it to the blind

Mclusky - falco vs the young canoeist

Cheeseman whats the deal with your sig? You just making up your own means of transport now?

Also the full version of that song title should be 'Without Monosodium Glutamate I Am Nothing" Not quite as catchy is it?

my personal favourite is "baby baby, you sure like to fuck!" on Full Grown by the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion

and also, jediroller will understand this one: "you're so tall, it's like I climb a waterfall" on Teeth by Kristin Hersh
gets me every time that one...

Oh, and "i live in the desert, and i let the wind make love to me" from Great Expectations by Cat Power.

but it's not so much the actual lyrics for these last two - more the delivery that sends shivers down my spine.

You bet I do. That line is actually about me!

Okay, not really :(

Lines I like:

"Sometimes I wish I were Catholic, I don't know why" (Cracker)

"Le crapaud qui gueulait 'Je t'aime' a fini planté sur une croix" (Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine)

"I'd like to wake up to your refreshing lack of make-up" (The Free French)

"Someday I'm gonna be bright / Someday I'm gonna be smarter than smart / Someday I'll know something / Just like Larry King" (Vic Chesnutt)

"Hey!" (Pixies)

"And the sun kicks in, like a killer through a curtain" (The Mountain Goats)

"Well, guy in the skeleton costume comes up to the guy in the Superman suit, runs through him with a broadsword! I put the television off..." (The Mountain Goats again, best opening lines ever IMHO)

"After all what am I missing I haven't missed before?" (Kristin Hersh - one among hundreds)

And of course
"When the beep goes, leave a message. A short pithy passage, just so the Rollers know what's up, who's on it, what you want and when you need it. Make it shorter and sweeter than it's been at other times, but make it loose and make it lyrical, and make sure it still rhymes" (Jedi Rollers)

and my sig comes from a Pinback song, I think it fits internet msg boards perfectly

Some of their lyrics are pretty funny to be fair TarTar!!!

I really like these from The Shins (the song is called Saint Simon)

After all these implements
and texts designed by
intellects we're vexed to find
evidently there's still so
much that hides and though
the saints dub us divine in
ancient fading lines their
sentiment is just as hard to
pluck from the vine

Oh, how could I quote the Bloodhound Gang and forget to include the Pixies/Frank Black reference:

This hardcore ghetto gangsta image takes a lot of practice/ I'm not black like Barry White, no I am white like Frank Black is/ So if man is five and the devil is six then that must make me seven/ This honky's gone to heaven
