Mwahahahahahaha!
I watched the Twin Peaks movie first, so I kinda ruined the entire series for myself. I watched the first episode, and it was interesting. Can't believe that it was acutally on network television for the masses to view. I need to watch some more of that show.

Twin Peaks being cancelled ruined TV for me. I was 13 when the show started and, though I didn't watch TV dramas, I was somehow drawn to it at the very first episode. Maybe it was the hype. Articles on Twin Peaks were everywhere at the time.
And though the show was cancelled 13 years ago (wow, that feels like a long time) I haven't followed ANY TV show since. Which means I never watched the X-Files. |

I never got into watching X-Files regularly. I watched some episodes when it really got into alien abduction. There's suppossed to be work starting on another movie some time....Twin Peaks is genius-I've only seen season 1, but it's great. Fans are petitioning to have season 2 released on DVD. |

I loved the the X files when it first started, I was really into Fortean type stuff. It went on abit to long but I watch it the odd time still. I watched all of Twin Peaks when it was Irish t.v. a couple of years ago. I was a big fan of Dune and Blue Velvet and loved it, I used to watch it religously on a Friday night.

Yes... it's true. We CAN confirm the story that MovieHole.net posted yesterday, specifically that Paramount IS indeed hard at work on the DVD release of Twin Peaks: Season Two for release later in 2006. In fact, they're going to be releasing both Season One and Season Two of the series together at the same time (as you may recall, Season One was briefly available a few years ago from Artisan). Yes, David Lynch himself is involved and yes, there's going to be some very cool, all-new special features. We've actually known this was happening for many months now, but had been cautioned to keep it on the down-low, given what's happened with Lynch DVD projects in the past (think Universal's Dune: Special Edition and the it-almost-happened Criterion release of Eraserhead). But things are more solid now and work is well underway, so there you go. The set is still TBA here in the States, but it's due on 11/2 in Australia, so you can assume its R1 street date will be sometime around then as well. Here's a little look-see at some artwork Paramount is preparing related to the DVD release...

About time. I've been watching the net every few months for a season 2 dvd release since the first season came out in 2002. I ended up getting a crapish version of season 2 off ebay. Bad news for "Peaks Freaks" though. Despite the possibility of another movie to finish off the show, Lynch said last year that it would never happen due to the fact that Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me bombed at the box office when it was released. Mark Frost was more optimistic though. In 2001 he said that if Twin Peaks discussed in an interview the possibility of the show set in the worlds current timeline. Looks doubtful though.
BUT,if i may go all fanboy on you people. A reference is made (twice if i'm correct) to something happening in "twenty years". In the first season Agent Cooper mentions he is twenty years older in his dream. Another time Laura Palmer mentions "seeing" Agent Cooper in twenty years when they are in the Red Room. This could have been a storyline that would have been resolved if there was a third season. Or maybe it is yet to be solved in another movie. If the show was ever to return in Movie or Series form (dream on everybody) I presume it would be leading on from that part of the plot. You also have to ask yourself would David Lynch really wait a whole twenty years to finish a story. Well, he has been called "king of weird" Anyone else excited about his new movie INLAND EMPIRE?
And P.S. Are we ever going to see the one hour plus of deleted scenes from Fire Walk With Me on a SE dvd release??

It could end up in the hands of Mark Frost and some of the old writers of the show. But it wouldn't be the same without Lynch. That said he was absent a lot from the production of season two due to other projects, and season two wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be (a little awry in parts but still good). You never know, if dvd sales of both seasons go well Lynch could be persuaded to get back on the horse.
There is a lot of potential for a third season, even now at this late stage. Returning to see what happened to characters and there loves, etc. The majority of people from the show are still alive and well (Except for cult favourite Bob/Killer Bob, Frank Silva died after Fire Walk With Me)

My mate who has the first season and is a confirmed David Lynch fan heard somewhere that Lynch would like to do a non-TP show featuring agent Cooper, I think!

If that was so it'd have to be a prequel to TP (possibly). Given the brilliant and shocking finale of season two (i won't give it away for the people who haven't seen it) it is kinda possible to do a show taking up from where TP left off that is completely TP unrelated.
Check out David Lynchs daily weather report: http://www.davidlynch.com/dailyreport/ I first came across this a long time ago, and i find myself coming back to it again and again. I don't know why. It's just him giving a brief daily weather report as he looks out a window with a cup off ("damn fine") coffee. Occasionally it has nothing to do with the weather. Like the time a small skeleton thing sat in his chair and said something like "thank you for my arms"...

I've been a Lynchioso since Elephant Man in '80. Have loved everything since...except Fire Walk With Me. Stupid. It has some entertainment value. But it's just stupid. Twin Peaks was great...I was so into it when it was first on...never missed an episode...drank coffee and ate cherry pie, the whole bit. But season two became just dumb, and the characters really started to grate, as the storylines became more ho-hum. Dumb, silly, and lumberous. And it ended without anyone even really caring if Cooper was possessed...ooops! I spoiled it! As much as I liked TP, I hope Lynch never revisits it. My favorite line from the series: "Do you see cream corn on this plate?". I'll still get it on dvd, as I must own all Lynch. I actually have on videotape his hilarious show On The Air, and wish that would make it's way to dvd. And yes, can't wait for I.E. Anyone ever see Industrial Symphony #1? Really cool stuff! My vhs copy is fading...wish that was on dvd too!

On The Air has been rumoured for a dvd release, but poeple say the reason it hasn't come out yet (along with TP season2) is because David Lynch wants to supervise the transfers of all the episodes. That would take a long time. He then wanted to wait till after he had made IE. Thus the wait.

All 7 episodes?! I think only three or four aired originally, but the full 7 (maybe 8...can't remember off top of my head) found their way onto videotape. I'd have to check my collection...I believe there were two per tape. There was another show on at the same time as TP...a speculative/reality docu-program by Lynch and Frost called American Chronicles. It too lived a life of about 4 weeks and vanished. No great loss...it was dumb. And Richard Dreyfuss narrated the thing, so you couldn't take it seriously.

Well there was only 7 episodes (plus the pilot) in season 1 of TP and it was given a lot of care in its production for dvd. Doing the same for season 2, a whole 22 episodes, takes a hell of a long time. I'm sure On The Air will (eventually) get a dvd release. If it does Lynch will want to go over it with a fine comb. So we can expect to see it in 2011 when he's not so busy.

Comic-Con 2006: Twin Peaks DVDs Due?
A DVD producer dishes unofficial details during Comic-Con.
by Todd Gilchrist
August 2, 2006 - During the 2006 San Diego Comic-Con, DVD producer Charles De Lauzirika hinted that Twin Peaks would be returning to home video some time in the near future. Appearing at the DVD Sneak Peek panel held on Friday, July 21, he answered attendee questions regarding the association of his name and the David Lynch series in the program for Comic-Con. While he was asked by several of the studios he works for not to talk about his upcoming projects, he offered an unofficial confirmation that something involving Twin Peaks may indeed be in the works.
When asked by a fan to talk about the show and its possible DVD, he said, "let me see how I can answer that question. Here's the thing: I'm a massive Twin Peaks fan - I mean, you have no idea. I have been told I can say that something is in the works and that's about it. So good news is coming, but I don't know when." Another member of the panel asked if he was working on it, and he said, "um, yeah. Sure."
De Lauzirika also indicated that he did not participate in the release of the original Season One set, which was produced by Artisan Home Entertainment. "I was not involved in the first season Artisan release. That I believe was Mark Brantz and his company that did the first season."

I would bet MY life and the lives of everyone I know and love that we will never see a continuation of TWIN PEAKS as a movie or TV series. I think it's over, folks.
Here's hoping these upcoming DVDs include the pilot. |

I think Jason's right- no new Twin Peaks anything, and that's probably for the best- the movie was ok in it's own way ( even though the girl from The West Wing who played Donna nearly ruined it ), but the series had a certain mood to it, and I think that would be impossible to re-create.
Wait, is the pilot part of the season 1 DVD? I thought there was some kind of copyright conflict and the pilot wasn't included and was only available as some kind of shitty South American bootleg, but maybe I'm confused or behind the times.
By the way, just wanted to mention, if anyone hasn't seen it, "the Straight Story" isn't just one of DL's best, but one of the best movies ever. |

I might have mentioned it already somewhere above, but i read an interview around 2001 with Mark Frost where he talked about the possibility of a continuation of the series in some form. (P.S. I know it'll never happen, i was messing)
The Pilot came with the Region 2 boxset of season 1. It's just plain stupid that it wasn't with the region 1 boxset. How can you watch the show without it?

I know Mark Frost has written at least one novel. I think he once mused out loud the prospect of continuing the Twin Peaks saga on the printed page.
The pilot was not in the US box set due to one of those silly issues over who has the video rights to it. I'll bet they make things right with new set. If not, something is very wrong.
THE STRAIGHT STORY rules. I don't care that it's G-rated or a Disney movie. The Lynch signature is plain as day all over it. The bit with the teenage runaway comes VERY close to getting on my nerves, but the rest is just beautiful. |

Also, if you like the music in the show, a second volume of the Twin Peaks soundtrack is supposed to come out at around the same time as the DVD set... according to Angelo Badalamenti on his Myspace page, at least. Which is good news. There's a lot of good music from the show that wasn't on the original soundtrack album. |

Twin Peaks was genius first time round. And now on DVD still holds up. Timing as smart as Kubrick. Not the best TV series ever though. Many other contenders: Northern Exposure, Homicide, Heimat, Dekalog.
Fire Walk With Me was hysterical (literally). Contained astonishing sequences.
David Lynch remarked upon walking into an L-shaped shed. That's how he got started.
X-Files I just didn't get. Was it me? Wasn't it not much at all?
