Actually, I'd probably plump for Godspeed You Black Emperor or Arcade Fire for this decade. I think New Pornographers are quite bland and uninteresting, they have nothing to grab my attention. However, you are not going to pay attention to my opinion because I think the same of Beulah.

as much as i'm impressed with Arcade Fire, New Pornographers still blow them away.
and Beulah's 'The Coast Is Never Clear' is the most underrated album of the decade.
some people just don't have an ear for ultra-catchy, perfectly-written pop songs |

I completly agree with you about Beulah, 'The Coast Is Never Clear' and 'When Your Hearstrings Break' are both amazing. I can't get tired of listening to them.
But about the Arcade Fire, I can't agree with you, maybe that's just a matter of personal tastes, but I think they are much better than the New Pornographers.

I'll send it again. The Isis is completely unrecognisable and the most ambient track on the cd. And the question isn't really whether you are listening to Isis or not - it's whether you're enjoying it. |
