A bunch of things recommended by various forum members:
- Paul McCartney - Fine Line (so-so but a friend told me it was his least fave of the album)
- Antony & the Johnsons - River of Sorrow (I like this, strangely. Reminds me a lot of Bryan Ferry and I love Bryan Ferry)
- Beck - Heaven Hammer (Air remix) (pretty good)
- The Bad Plus - Anthem for the Earnest (very good)
- XTC - I'd Like That (good too)
oh, and Schnappi Das Kleine Krokodil, because it ruuuuuuuuuuuuuulez!

That's the great thing about lyrics in english for us foreigners.
We can ignore them if we want to ! (Frank said something about it in a french newspaper in 96. Maybe if I dig up my archives I could find it...)
Take "Shame" for instance. Shitty lyrics ("shame is the shadow of love" ! come on !) but the song is brilliant.
Anyway, (most of) her songs are great. Period. |

I agree with the lyrics thing for foreigners, but I disgagree with the fact that she writes bad lyrics (although it's right for some of her songs... like Shame), for instance: all the songs from Dry, To Bring You My Love or Rid Of Me are great and pure poetry...
just some examples:
