frog, no. i'm an assistant editor.
Wow, interesting. IMO a good editing is even more important than a good screenplay, coz good editors can make a bad screenplay OK and make a good screenplay great..
I got some info about Ladder 49 (thanks Jediroller). Sure I'll see it when it comes out.

If only you knew...
I keep feeling like people are just looking at screens and web sites all the time, but do they ever do anything? Or go out and say anything to anyone? I'm not so sure anymore. |

Really? Really, are you serious? Come on now. Don't do this. Hate the French, how about not hate at all. Takes more effort to hate then to love. Why hate King Of Karaoke? Who hurt you?
In my defense... I'm just sayin' |

hmm....one of the fringe benefits of admiring a musician with French fans- I get to try to figure out what you're talking about. Took out both my fr/eng dictionary and my book of french idioms. Can you guys help me out? You don't want to kill the bear before you have sold his skin? Okay, I guess that makes sense. You want to make sure you have a buyer for the pelt before you kill the bear. The idiom book gave as an English equivalent not to count your chickens before they hatch. am I right?
btw, have had a lifelong obsession with all things french including the people, which I know is silly and not so fair since I've never been to france, but one can dream. |

Dream on, slave!
The correct proverb goes like this : "il ne faut pas vendre la peau de l'ours avant de l'avoir tué" which means that you shouldn't sell a bear's skin before killing a bear. The English equivalent is the one with the chicken.
But if you say the exact opposite : "il ne faut pas tuer l'ours avant d'avoir vendu sa peau", it still makes sense, you shouldn't kill the bear before you have sold his skin.
A little bit of Wittgenstein...

I used to have an obsession with nordic countries, and my girlfriend was Swedish. Then I went to study in Sweden for a year, and it somehow changed my perception of scandinavian countries. I'm still fascinated by the North, especially Lappland and Finland, but my mental image of Sweden has changed a lot. I liked it very much, actually, but it just can't be as nice as the fantasized picture I had before.
And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there. |
