They are ok now. They used to be really good -- when they were hungry and really trying. As a matter of fact, they used to be one of my favorite bands.
They just don't seem to be trying any more. And Karen O's stage antics seem put on and too staged.
But she is dating Spike Jonze so that could have something to do with it. |

I have to disagree with Mr Assforfucking with his statement that the Yeah Yeah Yeah's are the worst band ever. I have their new Ep and enjoy that single "Maps" they have out. I have no idea what the hells she's talking about, but it's cool. I am wary of them because they are on mtv alot though.

Used to? They only have one album out. They had an ep before that, granted, but I don't really see how you think they are not trying as much. They have never been the hardest working band.
As for Karen O's stage antics, they have always been put on, she is a completely different person offstage. She is still the greatest front-person I have ever witnessed live.
Oh and she is dating Lars from The Liars (the song maps is about him), unless you know something the rest of the world doesn't?

I'll have to agree. Can't stand Jet and their whole "We try to look like the Who" image. That one bland song is so played out. This one guy I know bought the album and he was saying it's such a great rock record. Then he said "It's been a long time since anyone's put out a really great rock record like this."

Ok, I did some serious sleeping and now that this topic is no longer in the Pixies Live Forum, I take back my assertion of hatred and will settle instead for extreme and passionate dislike. You best learn to leave chewbacca alone.
I bought the first YYY ep back in early 02 and then saw them that summer at the siren's festival and was impressed. The full length album though didn't blow me away, but wasn't horrible. I can understand people's dislike, but at the same time I believe 100% that if there hadn't been any hype around them and they weren't on M2 around the clock, elitest hipsters would still be singing their praises. Over exposeure is what's really wearing out their welcome.

It's true...If it wasn't over hyped... It would be praised rather than condemned.
I think a lot of people automatically hate something if it's popular or liked by those top 40 retards....It doesn't mean it's bad(most of it is however) But I find that people who think their taste in music is somehow more refined than others don't even bother to give some stuff a chance, Or listen with a tainted ear. I used to think that way... but now it just comes down to this... I like what I like.
So love it or hate it...just do it for the right reasons. |

I saw them on Conan last year and was wondering why the guitarist looked like he was auditioning for the Cure...they played "Maps" and I thought it was decent...I borrowed the album from a friend to see if they had any better stuff but wasn't impressed..
Oh, and my friend has this obsessive infatuation with the Karen person...haha, gets on my nerves all of the time. "Oh my God..she's so hot. Isn't she?! ISN'T SHE?!!!?!" |

Maps, Pin and Y Control are pretty cool songs, rest of the album did'nt really grab me. Better then Linkin Park and Jet, hell yes. I'm pissed off Linkin Park made such a cool new video (it's the same animation people who did the Kill Bill Manga bits), but it's still the same old shit boring suicide drivel.

Speaking of the shittiest band in the world I'm fed up with Hoobastank. At first when people started quoting that "The Reason" song I thought they were quoting that old Velvet Underground song "I found a reason to keep living and that reason, dear, it's you." I can't remember the title but it was a great song, guess I just expected too much of the people that are fawning over this band.

Back to the non-shittiest band, whenever I hear Our Time, which is by far their best song, I always flashback to the goonies, when mikey was saying "this is our time, down here, our time. and that's their time up there. and all that changes once we go up troy's bucket." Mainly cause there used to be a local LI band called Troy's Bucket. Wow, that whole thing really wasn't on topic. Oh well. And Hoobastank is horrible, but not as horrible as good charlotte. Just mentioning that sucide video they did causes my eyes to automatically roll.

Ok, I'm going to download it. Now I'm going to have to digest this album, the new Bad Religion and the new Mission of Burma. The new mclusky is amazing, the new Mission of Burma is growing on me, but the new Bad Religion album isn't really impressing me at all, sounds almost like they are impersonating AFI a bit expecially the intro song.
