I recently heard that pot was legalized for medicinal use in Canada? Is this true? Maybe it's been going on forever, but I just heard it recently. Maybe this isn't the best place to be asking this question.

Yup you can have it for medicinal use.

It may also be decriminalized soon (for non-medicinal users), not legalized but decriminalized. All you'd get is a nice big fine.

it is still illegal to grow, illegal to sell, illegal to possess a large quantity (for the purpose of trafficking), but you can have a gram on your person but you are not allowed to smoke it unless you are sick.

Why is 'monosyllabic' such a long word?

I thought it already was decriminalized... can't you have up to 30g? I don't do the stuff, so I could be wrong, but I remember following the debate.

In a judgement issued on Oct. 7, 2003, the Ontario Court of Appeal wrote new rules to make it easier for people who are ill to get medicinal marijuana legally, but in the process, it reinstated laws making posession of pot for social or recreational use illegal.

Ottawa still plans to decriminalize possession of small amounts. Prime Minister Paul Martin said in December 2003 that the government plans to reintroduce the marijuana bill that died in November 2003 when meetings of the Parliament were temporarily discontinued for Martin's swearing in.

The Supreme Court of Canada said in a decision on Dec. 23, 2003, that Canada's laws against possessing small amounts of marijuana do not violate the Charter of Right and Freedoms and its protection of life, liberty and security of person.

Seriously though, what if my sickness is just, you know, I like to get high. Is it easy to be very discreet about it and virtually have no worries of getting busted?

My visit to Vancouver was very relaxing... :) Vancouver was very neat. Probably helped too that there was great weather. I actaully met ShineOfTheEver (john, right?) at the end of the Thurs Vancouver show. Man was that show awesome! There seemed to be even more herbage on Friday night at the Commodore.
