What if Scottie Pippen started in place of Rick Fox on the Lakers?
This is the sticky place to display your thoughts on the NBA playoffs; no holds barred. |

Rick Fox sucks, and Devean George or Kareem Rush should start. I've never liked Scottie Pimpin, but yeah, that would be a big improvement. |

I've only been to 1 NBA game in my life, Portland vs Washington in 2002 I think. It was Jordan's last year, when Portland still had Rasheed. Jordan had knee surgery the day of the game, so obviously I missed him. Having never been to a game before, Pippen really impressed me defensively. Imagine trying to pass or dribble with Scottie in your face. His arms are as long as my body.
I honestly don't know who will win the title. I'm hoping LA Lakers... or the T-Wolves... there aren't any teams that have a chance that I really feel like cheering for... oh well
i just love the NBA, but I don't have a favorite team. I wish the east had a chance... |

ABL - anybody but the Lakers
Actually, I'm a Kings fan. They've looked awful for the past couple of months but better in the playoffs. They really miss Bobby Jackson. |

My favorite team is the Lakers, but they have been since Kobe's rookie season (before they were good). I hope they win the title, but I hope the Nets get there at least. I wouldn't be mad if they won either, because I'm a huge K-Mart fan. |

I think Detroit and Indiana have a chance. Better chance than than the Nets had last year. I think the Spurs are the most likely to win it all.
I don't know how Fox has been playing lately, but he use to be one of the few guys on the Lakers that could play D well. |

I hate the Lakers. They're like the Yankees of the NBA, they always seem to get all the best players. It's hard to root for a team like that. And then all the Hollywood types will show up for their play-off games, and act like they're such great fans. If they were losing, none of them would show up(Well, maybe Nicholson would... I don't know) But LA has won enough titles recently. I hope Indiana wins, after all, what have they won lately? |

Kobe Bryant sucked for most of the game today and then came up huge with 2:00 left in OT. I used to like the Kings too Darwin, but now I hate them with a vengeance. |

Yeah, I watched Kobe today, he played well down the stretch. The Lakers should have lost the game in reg., Rockets lost it in OT. I've never been a Lakers Fan because I live in D.C. basically. and the east sucks right now, altougth having some of the best players ever...
The playoffs are shaping up well
I am surprised by how mamy higher seeds have even lost a game
Sacramento Dallas Denver Minnesota Detroit Milwaukee LA Houston Miami Noirlens
basically, it's been really fun to witness... I can't wait to see how it ends up. |

I think it's funny how my friends and I used to all be grungy alternateens with exotic hair colors back in the mid-90's and we'd be calling jocks meatheads and never talking about sports, and now I sit and talk to them for hours about football and I weeped pathetically when the Chicago Cubs lost in the NLCS last year. And I agree, the NBA playoffs this year are shaping up to be pretty good. Minny vs. Sac and LA vs. San Antonion. Wish the east was better, but I'm sure the inevitable Pacers-Nets series will be decent at least. |

I hope the Timberwolves can get out of the first round this year. They've made me nervous since watching them get destroyed in that last game. I do think they will be playing the Spurs in the Conference Finals though. I don't like their chances of getting past them though. Although Kevin Garnett is about the only guy who can match up to Tim Duncan, and vice versa. It's refreshing to see some new teams in there at least.

I've been a Laker fan since '78, but I don't have much respect for the current team. I was actually a little happy when they lost last year. I hoped it would give them a little humility and motivation. They don't have the class or abilities of the Laker teams from the '80s. My favorite players back in those days were James Worthy, Jamaal Wilkes, Michael Cooper. Guys showed up to give it all EVERY game (unlike the half-assed performances you see out of the current Lakers).
I really hate the Sacto Kings, though. Vlade is a big whiny crybaby, still bitter that the Lakers traded him to the Hornets all those years ago. I was so glad to see them completely choke at the end of the season and wind up in SECOND PLACE. And poor little Chris Webber is probably gonna leave Sacto because the crowd booed him and he got his feelings hurt. Grow up! Even Rick Adelman bugs me back to his whiny days in Portland. Yuck. Don't even bring up that punk Doug Christie.
I don't think anyone will beat the Spurs this year. They're just too well rounded. And Robert Horry will get another ring. What will that be, his sixth? |

Doug Christie has played huge during the past month. Why don't you like Christie? He seems pretty similar to Cooper (except for the socks). Vlade doesn't strike me as bitter. Does he floop alot? He sure does. Does Shaq foul alot? He sure does, but it's usually not called.
The only thing sweeter to me than the "Cow Town" Kings beating the Lakers is the Red Sox beating the Yankees. And, the sweep of the Yankees this weekend was mighty sweet. |

I'm a red sox fan all the way, far too early in the season.
80's Lakers, there's no arguing with anyone on that matter, I really liked James Worthy.
I hope the T-Wolves don't choke.
I don't like Chris Webber either, they are way better without him, they could make a great trade with him. And as said before, I think they really miss Bobby Jackson, he's a fun player to watch, tons of energy and he always brings it, although he's not that great of a shooter, rather streaky. Kings aren't going anywhere, I hope Dallas beats them and I don't really like Dallas. Should be a decent game to watch tonight.
I liked Malone's ripped Jersey and his 30 points. The only 40 year old ever to do that in the playoffs.
Tony Parker, nobody can gaurd this kid, he is incredible. Duncan of course is great, but I think Parker is become amazing. It's insane, no one can gaurd him, not even double team him, he is fucking fast and has great touch and a natural sense of the game, and he's what, 20?
I wish I had a team to cheer for, but the east just sucks.

I was born in Baltimore and I've been an Orioles fan since the age of 5, so I have one thing in common with Red Sox fans: I hate the fucking Yanks. That was a great weekend series. Is there anything sweeter than hearing the Bronx Zoo booing Jeter? I think not! And I can see why people would think the Lakers are the Yankees of the NBA. I don't disagree with that. Malone and Payton hopping on to try to get a ring before they retire is just like Clemens, Boggs, Mussina, etal., signing with the Yankees to try to win a World Series before they go. Those guys would probably give their first-born kids to win a ring.
Maybe I just dislike Christie for his little spats with Rick Fox. But he's another guy (like Vlade) who didn't make it on the Lakers and I get the impression he's still bitter about it. I kinda like Fox even though he's a bit of a pretty boy. He reminds me of AC Green a little. A bit of a role player that can pull down some boards and play defense. But I lost a ton of respect for him when he showed up at Chick Hearn's funeral and gave a eulogy dressed in his Lakers warm-up suit! But at least he bitch-slapped Doug Christie! I'd like to see those two put in a boxing ring. Rick Fox would do all he could to protect his face so he wouldn't wind up as ugly as Christie.
==edit== ADDENDUM... One thing you gotta admit about Shaq is that he gets mauled practically every night. Sure he fouls but he takes a hell of a beating doing it.
Devean George totally sucks. How many years will they give him before they let him go? The guy can't shoot, can't rebound. At least Kareem Rush can shoot. Plus he has a cool first name. |

George is a workhorse in the regular season, he saved their asses when the fab 4 weren't together, but seems to have no confidence in the playoffs; all the same with the much younger Rush.
Derek Fisher I like, he plays hard and I think he is a better defender than Payton.
I wish I had a favorite team. |

I like Devean George. He might not be as good of a shooter as Kareem Rush, but he's been a lot better than Rick Fox lately. Fox should stick to instigating Doug "I love you, honey" Christie (I wish I knew his wife's maiden name) and passing the ball. I hate how sometimes he posts up and gets the ball when Shaq, Kobe, Karl, and Gary are on the floor with him. I know it doesn't happen often, but even once is way more than enough.
And I feel you Red Sox fans' pain. I'm a diehard Cubs fan and have been since I was a young boy. Sox vs. Cubs World Series would be perfect. |

Detroit looks the the beast of the east, Indiana may get a win or 2 against them in the conf. final. Out west the Spurs look like the favorite, all the other teams are beating each other up while they rest. I'm liking Detroit to win it all...

Derek Fisher needs to get his ass off the floor and play some real D. He attempts to draw a charge on EVERY play, and it drives me crazy. I hate seeing gusy flop at mid court. Under the hoop, fine, try to take a charge. But charging shouldn't even be called outside the 3 point arc, that's just gay and it really slows down the game. |

T-Wolves got lucky tonight
I loved Spree in John Barry's face at the end of the game... and what's with Spree's post game outfit, an oxford that looks like a suit, it's like those t-shirts that have boobs on them... hehe
I think John Barry really sucks, but I love to watch his father I mean really, the guy is trying to be better than he is and all he does on the court is bitch
Losing Wally Zerbiak (sp?) is going to be the downfall of the wolves in the end, that was a rough spill he took the other night |

I am thinking DET v SA too. I think it comes down to backcourt, and SA (Bowen) can defend anyone, but no one can stop Ginobli, no matter how ugly it (he) gets. Horry wins at least one on his own. SA 4-2. |

I'm a Nets fan, but saddened by their impending move to Brooklyn
And Kenyon Martin used to come into the movie theater i work at all the time - he stopped because people would yell shit like "K-MART!" in the middle of the film (when he saw SIGNS it was REALLY bad)

Okay, so it's almost time for the second round...
in the West:
Spurs vs Lakers
This is going to be a ridiculously interesting series to watch, could go either way. Tony Parker will be the difference maker. If he plays perfect, the win, otherwise they lose. Look for Kobe and Malone to have big games too. It would be insane if Robert Horry hits the game winning 3 pointer in game 7 with 2 seconds on the clock, irony anyone?
Kings vs T-Wolves
I like the T-Wolves. Chris Webber can suck a fat one. The only players I really like form Sac. are Bobby Jackson (prolly not playing) and Mike Bibby, dude can shoot and has major guts. Go Garnett!
And in the East:
Pistons vs Nets
This will be awesome, but Pistons win. The Wallace boys will be too much. Rasheed better step up. K-Mart will not back down, but Kidd will let you down.
Pacers vs Heat/Hornets
Jermain O'neal is too much for either team to handle. Pacers all the way.
So, I'm excited about the second round, I can't wait to see the games. If only the Pixies shows were on TNT... |

If Horry wins it for the Spurs with a GW in game 7, I won't complain. Except about how he missed clutch shots LAST year. But he is one of the best clutch guys ever and made a ton of huge shots for the Lakers over the years. |

Damn 4th page for being news...
That was the best fucking basketball game I have seen on TV since Jordan stole it from Malone and went C2C to win game 6 bakc in 96...
Lakers vs Spurs 2004 Game 5
Duncan hits a miraculous jumpshot just inside the 3-point line with Shaq in his face and .4 seconds (.4 seconds is th alloted time ot be allowed to catch the ball anbd turn and shoot, if it had been .3 or less, only a tip-in would ebe would be allowed)on the clock after it goes in...
Lakers call timeout
Call timeout again
Spurs don't gaurd the guy inbounding and put 2 guys on Kobe, high pick and roll, Shaq on the near inside lane, Kobe on the nearside but beyond the arc, (I would have had Shaq do a near high pick and roll with Kobe and circle back for the Lob instead iof the hook shot) Derek fucking FIsher streaks to the Payton who is inbounding the ball, Payton hits Fisher with a nice pass on the middle post for a fade away, he turns fades and shoots all at the same time and ... Swish!
with point .4 fucking four seconds on the clock to walk off the floor the acutal fucking miracle win
a monumental day in sports
Derek Fisher - the game winning shot Tim Duncan - the game leading shot with .4 seconds
Deven George and Deven Brown, the true unspoken heros of the game... |

Who is the Frank Black of the NBA
Metaphorically, who is the Frank Black of the NBA?
I'm thinking... he's almost as old as Malone, a little older than Payton or same age?
He's (FB) probably the Gary Payton of the NBA, rarely misses a game and always comes with attitude.... |

And Devean George actually contributed! He was 6 for 9 in the game. That should go on a plaque in Ripley's Believe It or Not. |
