i bought tickets based on what madtempest had been posting on Pixiesmusic.com ... i snoozed out and lost on Coachella (who knew a dirt field in the desert had a capacity) so i plunked that money down on this ... i either see the Pixies or i drown my sorrows in the $2 beer at the bar across from the street from the Glasshouse ...
Goldenvoice which is promoting Coachella ... owns the Glasshouse in Pomona where this secret show is supposed to be taking place so i doubt there'd be any contract issues especially since it wasnt billed as The Pixies |

How do you know The Cure aren't playing?
They are being inducted into (onto) the Rock & Roll Walk of Fame that day, and appearing on the Tonight Show in the afternoon. Why not do a secret gig that night? They've got the next day off to recover (not that they need it) before playing on Sunday.
They have also done two very small club shows in the last 5 months for charity. It would be very easy for them.

| speaking of restaurants.. i've got a couple more Burbank taco stands to ask you about BLT. have you been to La Fiesta on Hollywood way? or El Pueblo Nuevo, on Embire and Buena Vista? both fucking excellent places. i have to say, the Valley has some great mexican gems. almost like downtown.. |

I've been to El Pueblo Nuevo. Nice little place.
Is La Fiesta halfway between Magnolia and Chandler on the E side of the street? If so, I went there once but was very disappointed with my burrito. I love tacos, but I usually prefer a burrito if I can get a good one.
If you want an awesome burrito, I still recommend La Estrella in Pasadena. Fucking amazing place. Their red salsa is a locomotive force unto itself. |

i think we should turn every thread possible into a Los Angeles restaurants thread BLT.
you should give La Fiesta another go. i'm more of a taco guy, so that's what i got. the 3-taco combo. i was quite pleased. the guy i went with got birria, which i had never had (goat meat). excellent excellent. and super cheap. |

ok, let's get back to secret show speculation (one of my favorite topics)..
maybe they want to do this show as sort of a "warm up" set for Coachella. because i don't think they'll be getting one at the venue (unless it's really early in the morning) |

The Pixies are the only band that could (and are going to) get me to Coachella. Last time i went i swore to myself that i'd never go to a big festival again. but this i couldn't pass up.
given the other show's i'm getting to see (went to Spokane, this Friday is looking positive, and will be going to Berkeley) i was considering selling my Coachella tickets. but the other reason for me is i'm going to see friends i don't get to see that often (from different parts of the country). so, i'll endure..
