That the Coachella Warmup Party at the Glass House in Pomona on Friday Night is a Pixies gig. Heard it through Radiohead people, it went on sale 11 minutes ago. The fact it is a no-name band with "special guest" and a 2 ticket limit seems to imply somebody cool is playing
If anyone who is travelling with the band and can ask someone that would be huge...Of course they will probably say "what pomona gig"

What do you mean by "Radiohead people"? Fans? Roadies? After The Pixies avoided southern CA completely, would they risk contract breakage the day before Coachella?

If the day the Pixies are playing is sold out (isn't it sold out?) why would the Coachella people care if they do a small pre-show? |

as far as this contract thing goes, i think people are grossy over-assuming that they have all the details of how the coachella contracts work.
The Evens, a band, which includes Ian Mackaye of Fugazi, are playing Coachella, and are also playing a show in LA the same weekend
now maybe this only applies to the larger headliners? who knows, but it just seems like i've never officially heard or read anything from the GoldenVoice people, stating that artists will breech their contract if they play another show in the area of the festival around the same time frame. It does make sense to have such a clause, i'm just saying the only times i've heard about it, are just rumors.

It's a pretty small venue. It's were all the punk bands play. But it's a cool venue.

when i saw Frank at the DIY Convention in LA, someone asked him when we'd get to see him around here and he said the "Coachella people wouldn't be too happy" if they played around here anytime soon. so i assume there must be some kind of contractual agreement, which makes sense.
but that doesn't mean there isn't going to be a secret show, that i'm going to get to see next Friday :) |

Good old Ticketmaster. $30 ticket, $11.45 in fees... my asshole hurts already. I can only imagine what it will feel like if The Pixies don't play.
I'm still skeptical (naturally), but that XXXXXX stuff at the official web site was the last straw that made me bust open the wallet.
--EDIT-- For some reason thought Pixiesmusic was the official site. Shows how much I know. Nice looking site, madtempest. |

Im a marked man either way, if it going down and I came back monday from it and said yeah I knew but I didnt want to tell you guys the rumor you really would have loved me...Were all in the same boat, hoping this is a Pixies gig in front of about 300 people that you pay half of cost to see them in front of 80,000 bodies
i didnt make any of you guys hit the "buy now" key..its america, freedom to make choices |

At heart we are all godless American robot buyer chumps. But that doesn't mean we won't hunt you down, taper...
...on the other hand, if the Pixies DO play, we will hoist you, our hero, up on our shoulders and carry you from the Glass House in a jubilant celebration of all that is good about godless consumerism. |

i really dont need either situation...I guess I should have never mentioned this..a little other stuff on this
so the "band" that is supporting is Moving Units...while they are playing coachella, looking at some of the other gigs this month, they OPEN gigs where the total ticket cost is $12...So I am not sure why they would be charging $30 for the coachella pre show party and ticketmaster is enforcing a 2 ticket limit..This is the same ticketmaster that would let you buy 6 or 8 for a pixies warmup show..So someone at ticketmaster assumes this will be a hot show..Plus tickets went on sale on a thursday, like it was thrown together at the last minute
Another tidbit from moving units themselves off there website
"Super Special M>U Show on April 30, at the Glass House with secret guests!!For all of you here in the So-Cal area, or those of you coming out to Coachella, Moving Units will be playing a special "Coachella Kick-Off Party" at the Glass House in Pomona. Many of the bands playing will be in attendance, and there is a super secret guest band that will play immediately following M>U.
Doors will be at 7PM and M>U at 8PM sharp, so I recommend that you get there EARLY!
I'll let you know when tickets are going on sale, but it might be as soon as this saturday."

If I'm the Pixies, I take a day off before getting in front of 80,000 people. Then again, maybe not? So Frankblacktaper you'll be there to tape the show if it is a pixies gig I hope???

sources at the glass house cannot confirm who the "special guests" are, however i have been informed that it will be worth the $30.

Could also be Radiohead. Maybe the Radiohead folks were trying to throw people off the scent.

I think we are getting spoiled by this disclive thing. It is quite handy to have ready-made good quality bootlegs available for download (COUGH!) purchase in limited quantities. Hey at least I bought four of them!

I don't think this would be a breach of contract, as I believe this is a coachella sponsered event.

Hey guys,
I went to Ticketmaster, and they could not "find" any tickets... is there maybe something up with the website, or does that mean it is sold out? You would think they would put something up if the show sold out, or take down the page on Ticketmaster... but that's just me.
Any info would be great!
