OK, Curb Your Enthusiasm is the funniest show on TV, and Larry David is the best writer/funnies guy on earth. But The Office is brilliant too, and Ricky Gervais can dance like no other. Who wins? And which show wins? I don't think I can decide. I love Larry David and have been a huge fan since the show started (and before, I was a big Seinfeld fan), but The Office Series 2 DVD just came out today and I'm really into that right now. They're both so good. |

Never saw the Office, but I can vouch for Larry David as being fan-fucking-tastic. Even though Curb does get repetative and predictable, it still remains hilarious. Some of the situations are just so ridiculously hilarious...I love it.

They are both brilliant, but Ricky Gervais is just sooo convincingly oily and creepy. It's just hard to believe that in real life he's not a pompous (sp?) jerk. |

I'm convinced Ricky Gervais must be a super nice guy in real life. There's no way a real creep could play a creep so convincingly. Same goes for Mackenzie Crook as Gareth Keenan.
I've only seen 3 or 4 episodes of CYE. Although they were funny, Larry didn't quite captivate me the way David Brent did. |

ricky gervais is hilarious in real life. Depending on the time difference, try listening to his radio show (with Stephen Merchent, cowriter of the Office): its 1pm-3pm GMT/BST, at www.xfm.co.uk.

Thanks for the tip. Just be looking at the behind the scenes clips on The Office DVD's, he is SO funny in real life. I love how he geeks out when laughing, reminds me of my best friend. But I have to disagree with BLT about him in real life. I'm sure he's nice, but I also bet he is overbearing like David Brent in real life. I just read an interview with him and the interviewer asked him if he would work with Larry David. He said that CYE is his favorite show, but that he wouldn't want to work with him because Larry is funnier than he is. Although it would never happen, I can visualize a show with both of them getting into the akwardest of situations together. They're both so completely hilarious, I hope they collaborate on something in my lifetime. |

There's an interview w/ Ricky Gervais on Onion AV Club...(I actually pulled the quote in my sig from it, coz I liked it so much) I've never seen The Office (I want to.) But I watched two episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm last night w/ my girlfriend and some buddies of mine, and we were all laughing our asses of.

I don't think Ricky and Larry working together would necessarily be better than separately. Might be too many cooks in the kitchen. They need to bounce off of "normal" people for maximum effect. |

Good point about the normal people needed thing. And I love that quote, too Psy. The Onion AV Club is a cool webpage/paper insert. They did an interview with Frank Black a couple years ago too that you can find if you google. |

I got a quick sitcom related question... did you ever get Father Ted across the pond? Thursday, 10:30pm has become Time For Ted for me, and its unadulterated genius. You likey?

I'd like to think I'm fairly hip to British comedies, but I've never heard of Father Ted. |

It is literally the greatest one, therefore you officially haven't lived, B. Its set on the West Coast of Ireland with three priests, if you stumble across it.

I could see Ricky doing a cameo on CYE.
The bra sniffing dog episode of Curb is one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV.
