I'll drop one too. Does anyone know this band.
I heard one song like 10 years ago and I just figured (googled) it today but I've never heard of them before.
It was this song,
SPEAKEASY
will there be another breakdown communication is a let down when you speak is it easy you're trying too hard to please me
I know what you think I think the same things as you as do the things that you do don't break the habit of a lifetime you broke the habit of a lifetime I see through everything you do
will there ever be a right sound communication is a let down you wouldn't speak for a million give me your honest opinion in your own words
I see through everything you do I see through everything you do

These guys are great! I got a promotional tape when i saw Cast at the Starfish room about 10 years ago, I bought "Maximum High" right away and it still gets frequent play around the abode. Every time I go into a record store though, I always find something else to buy, I really need to pick up some of there other stuff. I think they released four or five albums, "Max" was their second. I think they broke up last year though.

Why do you gotta be like that, guy?
It's not like I listed them in my standing the test of time list (I took shit for that too, btw). I just said I liked their fucking album and thought they were great. I didn't say I "LOVED" them.

erm...from memory I think the so called serious music papers gave them a bit of a pounding in the UK. I couldn't name any of their songs. Mediocre and predictable would be my harsh but fair review.
I tend to lump bands like Shed Seven in with Oasis, Blur, Pulp etc etc. I never liked the whole Brit Pop thing. You won't find a single cd in my collection from that lot (other than a Suede lp which I never play). I quite enjoyed following the Oasis/Blur battle in the 90's though. At the height of it all, The Independent newspaper (one of the UK's more serious broadsheets)ran a brilliant headline on the front page entitled something like 'POP BEAT COMBO RELEASE NEW SINGLE' for a new Oasis song. I think they were taking the piss. I did laugh.

Hahaha, chortling aloud. I suspect she means she locked her keys in her car. Probably because she was so enraptured in listening to the orange album that she forgot 'em in the ignition when she pulled up to work and was singing Adda Lee at the top of her lungs. I've seen it a thousand times. Ooh! Orange smiley.

New wave? Are you having a giraffe? Much as it grates to agree with Mike (kidding...), Shed Seven are a joke. They were the epitome of northern Britpop, as in Cast, Oasis et al. Actually southern Britpop like Pulp, Suede, (urgh) Sleeper weren't alot.
Do not tell me there's a revival coming in the States - it would just be wrong.

Worst of the worst, Mikey boy.
"Are you going for gowald?"
Still, fun to look back on. Britpop was fun at the time. Back in, oo, musta been '96, I was big into the whole shebang. I can remember the whole 'Roll With It' vs. 'Country House' thing, I wanted Oasis to win at the time, although I vastly prefer Blur now. I also remember kinda liking Cast a little, 'Sandstorm' was a good song. There were a couple of good bands that evolved out of it: Blur obviously, Supergrass maybe.
Ha. Then came 1997, and OK Computer, and everything changed.

And Sleeper. Well. Did you see Live Forever, the Britpop documentary? Louise Wener kept coming on and I remember just sitting there thinking, why do I even care what you say, Sleeper were some jumped up waste-of-space also-rans, and she had a mouth the size of the moon.
Heh heh, in the nicest possible way...

I was just kidding too HPM! However, keep in mind most average british music is still better than most good north american music IMO.

I ended up continuing this conversation at work today... I found two people who liked Shed Seven: one from Hull, the other from Scunthorpe.
I rest my case. BTW Jo, I hate it when people say this to me, but do you know Bob Allen from Cooking Vinyl? He's a Yorkie...
