Pretty good, over-rated (didn't get the hype at all), and can't remember it too well but I remember not being impressed.

| Love 'em - Rushmore's my favorite with Bottle Rockets a close second and then Tenenbaums a close third. The new movie should be pretty cool. Bill Murray is in at and it is about a submarine or somehting to do with Ocean exploration. Not sure when it si to be released. Love Wes Anderson's flicks! |

i'm a huge fan. he's probably my favorite young director right now.
my ranking is 1. RUSHMORE 2. BOTTLE ROCKET 3. TENENBAUMS
i have a theory that his best work is the result of collaborating with Owen Wilson (who has co-written all his films so far).. i heard that Owen wasn't involved as much in writing TENENBAUMS and hence, it's my theory that that's the reason it wasn't quite as good as the other two. still great. but too ambitious maybe..
i think this theory will be proven, or disproven, with Andersons next film THE LIFE AQUATIC. which he's writing with Whit Stillman (another talented writer/director, METROPOLITANl, BARCELONA).. Wilson is not involved in this one, writing-wise. |

| I have Rushmore and Tenenbaums posters on my wall, and my brother and I drop lines from the 3 movies all the time and no one has any clue what we're talking about. We get lots of weird looks. |

why does everyone love Rushmore? It's like some hush hush secret that no one is willing to talk about it. It wasn't very funny. It's one of those movies that you're "supposed" to like but no one can say why.

I'm not a big fan. I thought I was going to enjoy Rushmore from what I'd seen and heard, but when I saw it, I couldn't get into it at all, and Jason Scharzmann's character confused the hell out of me, and not in any positive way. Just wasn't an interesting character to me. I watched a bit of Royal Tenenbaums and couldn't get into it at all. I didn't even know it was a Wes Anderson film, but I suppose that explains why I didn't get into it. I guess he's just not my cup of tea.

| I don't understand how someone couldn't love Rushmore. There are so many great scenes, from the jealous Max in the restaurant post-play (O R they?), to Herman Blume running away from Miss Cross on the playground, and the handjob note. Seriously I could sit here all day and write about funny stuff from this movie off of the top of my head. And yet, some people don't find it funny. You either love it or hate it I guess. I love it. My fiance hates it. :( |

At least you like it and don't understand how people don't like it. There are films that I like that I can't figure out exactly why people like, like The Big Lebowski. Hell, I don't even know why I like it. It's such a peculiar film, and really says nothing about anything. Perhaps it's because each time I watch it, a new line seems to be the funniest part. Endlessly quotable. "You want a toe, I can get you a toe. There are ways, Dude. You don't want to know about it. Hell, I can get you a toe by 3 o'clock this afternoon, with nail polish." Lots of great moments, but still it baffles me that so many people like it so much.

Of the three Rushmore is my favorite. I'm excited to hear Stillman's name again because I enjoyed Metropolitan so much, much more than Rushmore. Was Barcelona any good?

Tenenbaums bored me to death. Rushmore I bought because I heard Bill Murray was good in it. Bored me ever so slightly less, it was alright but I couldn't see sitting through it again. The big lebowski, I didn't find funny but its a great story, good story tellers those guys.

I watched Rushmore the first time and its brilliance was completely lost on me, maybe I just wasn't in the mood. The second time was a different story, however.
It'd be tough to compare that with Royal Tenenbaums, though, which I liked right away. Don't think I could rank them.
I have yet to see Bottle Rocket...

I like them all very much, but Rushmore is my fave. Wes Anderson does a beautiful job with the tragicomic.

I have yet to see Rushmore, and I really want to, as much for Bill Murray as anything else, the mans a legend.
I loved Tenenbaums and Big Lebowski, for the record. Hey man, there's a beverage here!

| Loved em all....and I even loved the soundtracks...everything he does just resonates well with me...I remember coming out of the theatre, (Rushmore), with my girlfriend at the time, both of us raving and quoting lines from it, when we bumped into some of her friends, and they were like, that movie was too dark, too depressing...and I was thinking, did we just come out of the same movie? |

See, I didn't think any of those scenes were funny, just odd. Weird how different people's sense of humor can be.

| True, true. I'm glad that some people like COF gave it a second chance. Even then though, it's either a love or hate type thing I think. And I agree with whoever said that Bill Murray is great in everything. And I think that The Big Lebowski is hilarious. I'm tempted to go put it in the DVD player right now... |

i love anderson's work - i'm personally a Tenenbaums man, but i know very few people who agree with me. that film has the ability to make me nostalgic about something i've never lived through, if that makes any sense, and it does it perfectly.

| I liked Rushmore+Tenenbaums. Hav'nt seen Bottle Rocket. They're sweet, witty, sharp little movies. I love the school stage production of Scarface in Rushmore. Gene Hackman is perfect in Tenenbaums. |

I think you mean Serpico. Unless you're talking about the MTV thing on the $40 Rushmore Special Edition, which I haven't seen.
Here's how I categorize Wes Anderson. Not since Hal Ashby's Harold and Maude has there been a better example of feeling like you're in on the joke than when watching a Wes Anderson flick. It's a quirky yet controlled feeling: like anything might happen but you won't be too surprised. It's a very unique feeling.

Like cvan said, the crime play in Rushmore is Serpico. The Rushmore Criterion Collection DVD contains the cast performing 3 mini-plays based on movies for the MTV VMA's. They are Out of Sight, Armageddon, and The Truman Show. They're pretty funny. It's a lot of money to spend on one dvd, but it's well worth it. Lots of extras. Probably my favorite DVD. |

Just because Owen Wilson was spotted stateside doesn't nessecarily mean they are done filming. Generally every actor is not required to be there for the whole shoot, you know?
Did anyone else see the spread in the Hollywood Vanity Fair Issue about this movie? I can't wait, it looks really good.
