I'm looking forward to the re-release of Donnie Darko in theatres this summer. Now it's a director's cut, already. Guess the studio is ready to make up for their fuck up with it's distribution originally, or they're just capitalizing on the films rabid cult following. A lot of diehard Darko's are upset because they feel the movie is fine as it stands now, with all the ambiguity, but Richard Kelly says this new cut will answer some questions as well as pose new ones. This was the cut he wanted to release, but the studio made him shorten the film. Can't wait to see this.

Where did you get this info? Is a director cut really nessecary? Not that it's "fine as it as" as you say some fanatics think, but the DVD is perfect. You get like 30 deleted scenes, some that help and some that kill the story. Is this all that's going to be cut back into it? If this is how the Director wanted it though, then I will sit back and enjoy the ride. |

Yeah, there's loads of deleted scenes; Surely he could have recut it for the DVD? It's gonna be re-released on DVD, actually(obviously as this new 'Directors's Cut'). The current version should be a 2-disc;all the extras are crammed on 1 disc, so picture/sound quality would be better without so much stuff jammed in. It's going cheap everywhere now, and with a sticker advertising it as featuring that 'Mad World' hit song. I'm sure the new edition will be a lovely, deluxe 2-discer with all the trimmings. Bleh.

ahh ta. See, someone here had a baby yesterday, and would I believe it, would I hell. She was at work on Monday (heavily pregnant, obviously) and then the very next day and plop, there is new baby.
I was being super-cautious yesterday... just in case...
this'll explain why Fopp is selling the DVD ridiculously cheap at the mo... |

So there's additional scenes? Hmmm, I guess the studio DID interfere with it.
The official site is a bit of a pain....I mean, how many mysterious images can you take before you actually enter the website properly. Sheesh.... |
