My most recent musical discovery is the first band of Edwyn Collins, Orange Juice. I just listened to a couple of songs (Rip it up, Blue Boy, etc), and I was wondering which record I should buy. I like what I've heard so far very very much.
So if any of you know them, please tell me which record I should purchase. I understand their Postcard period is completely different from their Polydor period, and I'm a little cinfused, as there is no info about this band.

Wow, their history is linked to another underrated band I adore : the Go Betweens.

I LOVE orange juice!!! I'm a pulp fan, and fresh-squeezed is always best, but if you don't have time or a juicer, Indian River is the best store-bought brand by far. The thing I like most about orange juice is that it tastes good with practically anything, and it satisfies your thirst like none other, and, of course, it's healthy

Hey you're spoiling my thread!
Well nevermind, I guess the drink is more popular than the band. I love orange juice too, fresh squeezed - mmmmmmm.
If someone knows the lyrics of "Rip it up" (I'm French, so I don't understand everything), though, I would be very grateful.

I haven't heard the band, but I do enjoy the drink, and probably drink too much of it. I've been told that you're only supposed to have one small glass of orange juice every day, but I usually have more than that, when I have it at all. I used to hate the kind with the pulp in it, but I'll drink it either way now.

I love orange juice - and I like SOME pulp. My best friend hates pulp and she likes to crack me up by saying "I don't like to CHEW my drink." Ha. |

I just have to throw this in: Anybody ever notice how truly horrific orange juice is after you've just brushed your teeth?
Take me, break me, tell me a good one and maybe I'll cry

I like Orange Juice after brushing my teeth. It's like an After Eight. My favourite Pulp song is "Sorted for E's and Whizz".
Aren't there any Brits here? Noone heard of Orange Juice? Edwyn Collins? Come on.

I have not only heard of Orange Juice sir, but I am also familiar with their Postcard label-mates Aztec Camera and Josef K.
You really want the Postcard-era stuff as opposed to the later albums but it's quite hard to get hold of unfortunately.
I wasn't a particularly big fan but the chorus of "Rip It Up" went
Rip it up and start again Rip it up and start again I hope to God I'm not as dumb as you make out I hope to God I hope to God |
