Alright...to put Floop out of his misery, i'm going to enlist some of your help in figuring out the mystery from the information I received. You're gonna need to do some investigative work, ask around, do some digging, check public records, etc., etc. Since we're all brothers and sisters in this endeavor, we'll try to solve the mystery together. If you're in, you're in..and you'll share and i'll share and we'll all be happy in pixilated bliss. We don't have much time. It's a club in Southern California that I haven't been able to find information about anywhere. If you're a club kid and have knowledge, or have the ability and willingness to do some research, join our quest. If you just want to sit around and profit off the sweat of others, don't bother. I believe I have valid, reliable info, and if we could put our heads together, mabye we can come up with something. Floop can validate this about my lead. E-me and i'll maintain the "master list" of sleuths and we'll work together on this. When you write me, let me know your qualfications (where you live, what you do, how knowledgable you are of the club scene, who you know, etc...)
Like I said...we don't have much time!

OK well if the Breeders show on Thursday isn't it, then we have to narrow it down first to when we think the Pixies will head up north to rehearse and settle in for the show on the 13th... that'll give us a better idea of when.
As far as where... I'd say you've got your choice of Spaceland, the Knitting Factory, the El Rey, the Henry Fonda, the Troubadour... maybe the house of blues. All places that Frank Black has played quite a few times before and has relationships with and all places about the same size as some of the other warm up show venues.
Hope that helps |

indeed, mr. singer seems to have potentially very very interesting information (you may as well post it at this point larry).. i can vouch for that.
he kindly shared this with me a few days ago (and made me promise not to share it) and, well.. i couldn't live with the secret any longer AND i can't fucking figure it out. i suggested to him that he should just post the info., so we could all be on the case.
it truly is puzzling (and frustrating). i've tried every avenue of research i could think of. NO ONE has heard of this club (including hardcore music industry people).. so, i think it's either:
a.) a sick twisted joke b.) a secret name for another club c.) i don't fucking know.
i'm still keeping hope alive though. and the spirit of speculation. that, i will take to my grave. |

Ahright...ahright Floop. Junior sleuths, put on your thinking caps and get out your magnifying glasses. We're looking for a "club" called Cacahuete.
Here's the proof: http://www.nofimagazine.com/noconcal.htm. Go down to April 1. As mr. floop said, this may be a sick twisted joke...but it really doesn't look like it. I mean, there's nothing inherently "funny" about this listing.
Cacahuete means "peanut" in spanish. I can't find a club Peanut anywhere in Hollywood.
Do with this information what you will...but please be kind and share. I shared with you all.
Let the search begin!
Oh....all you naysayers from my first post about "P2"...thanks for your support.

Interesting find, but a show the same day *before* the actual Breeders show? Sounds doubtful. Plus, it is April 1st....
I assume you have tried to email the editors of this online zine?
Andy K. PS: I like how the other show the same day is a band called debaser :-)

i emailed every one of the editors .. only one responded saying that he too was trying to figure it out. so either he knows and he's just fucking with me, or he's just fucking with me, or he actually doesn't know.
also, the band "debaser" is a local one-man bassist guy who goes by that name.. don't let that throw you. it's non Pixies related. |

Notice, though, that that club is mentioned on March 17th of that calendar, for three bands that are basically impossible to search for on Google ('A.F.', 'days five-teen', 'in').
Thats weird.

tried that too.
believe me, i've tried every possible approach. the club does not exist.
a friend of mine knows tons of music industry people and no one has heard of it. it's nowhere to be found in Google. it's not listed in information, under alternate spellings, language translations etc.. none of those other bands who supposedly played there can be found anywhere..
it's a fucking mystery! or, like i said, a sick twisted joke..
nonetheless, a pre-Breeders secret LA gig does not seem implausible. but it would have to be on the serious down low.. which, if it is happening, it certainly is. |

Whoa...I didn't notice that. But...I did the count. The P2 show is 15 (five-teen) days from the "A.F." show on the 17th.
Hmmm...the plot thickens! |

Lucky for you guys, you only have 24+ hours to worry about it. I'd really be feeling for you if this was scheduled for the 12th or something... |

Its an april fools joke, methinks.

april fools joke is too obvious though.. like, "duh, April Fools! they're actually NOT playing. hahahaha"..
can't.. take.. the pressure.
put.. out.. of mysery.
here's my advice to anyone in the area..
i really can't leave my job unless i find out it's a sure thing.. but if i weren't working, or was a student or whatever.. i'd go hang around Spaceland in the afternoon and see what happens. with the knowledge we have at this point, that's the best bet, i think . if you're in a gambling mood. |

Hi.
Long time lurker, first time head poker-outer.
I would also suggest checking out the echo.
It's nearby and fairly small. And you can easily go in and out unnoticed there, I think. |

Too obvious? Think it’s time for a history lesson. This is the #1 April Fool’s Day hoax of all time, according to museumofhoaxes.com:
#1: The Swiss Spaghetti Harvest In 1957 the respected BBC news show Panorama announced that thanks to a very mild winter and the virtual elimination of the dreaded spaghetti weevil, Swiss farmers were enjoying a bumper spaghetti crop. It accompanied this announcement with footage of Swiss peasants pulling strands of spaghetti down from trees. Huge numbers of viewers were taken in, and many called up wanting to know how they could grow their own spaghetti trees. To this question, the BBC diplomatically replied that they should "place a sprig of spaghetti in a tin of tomato sauce and hope for the best." Check out the actual broadcast archived on the BBC's website (You need the RealVideo player installed to see it, and it usually loads very slowly).
complete list at http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/aprilfool/0/
No prank is too obvious. If huge numbers of people will believe that you can grow spaghetti trees (and from a respected source, mind you; not some crappy zine), then people will believe anything. Obviously.

here's the deal..
the guy from the magazine said it will be posted on the calendar tomorrow.
it kills me to post this here, but i don't want to be selfish (yes, i'm a martyr)..
so now we can all duke it out in person at the door. |

PLEEEEEEEZZZEEEEEEE!!! I'll buy a couple of drinks and hold a spot in line at the club if we both get in... I just gotta know this...

If you guys have a venue name, post it! I cant even go (since I'm three time zones away) but I'm dying to know anyways... |

I really don't care about all this Pixies reunion secret shows speculation bullshit...you guys are going to get an ulcer over this. But I figured I'd look in on this topic cause I am sometimes a good dick, and here's what I found...I'm surprised nobody picked up on this yet. lsinger's comment about the show at that same club (which might not even exist) being 15 days before april fools...this is so obvious:
A.F., Days five-teen, "in", live at the Cacahuete Hollywood
A.F. = April Fools "in" = in days five-teen = 15 days
April Fools in 15 days...
