I still find NME the best 'cos they keep abreast of things. Q respect acts such as Dido so they can definitely fuck off and MOJO is for old men. Talk about 'Dad Rock'.

I know NME tend to hype things up too much but I just ignore that and make up my own opinions. Have to say though that they have introduced me to a lot of great bands.

If anyone has any other mags that keep with the times then I'd love to try them out.

Hansel and Gretel have formed a band, .....And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Breadcrumbs!!!

I can't find anything I like at the moment. I buy the NME now and again for the gig list in the back, and perhaps to read the odd thing about a band I like. I got the Kurt issue yesterday actually, did anyone else see it? They had a comic strip about Kurt in the centre. I thought it was a little sick, especially the last page.

It's getting colder....

That comic strip was from a book. I first saw it about 6 months ago and just could not believe someone had created such a piece of shite. It really is so bad its funny. I bet all those 13 years olds lap it up though.

I agree that the NME is the best for music news but it seems to be aimed at 14 year olds, hence all the posters. I tend to just look on their website rather than buying the actual magazine.

kurt said that nirvana was just a pixies rip-off band.

mudhoney just played in olympia wa. for the melvins 20th anniversary show.
it's not quite the same matt and the drummer are gone and steve turner has no edge. he's doing his own solo folky thing and it really sucks. he doesn't like getting beer spilled on him anymore.

vamonos ala playa

He said a lot of things he didn't mean, and a lot that were incorrect. He wasn't perfect!!!

I think the original 'Molly's Lips' by The Vaselines is my favourite though. Especially the old car horn part. I think I might try and get hold of one of their albums. Kurt also covered their 'Son Of A Gun' and 'Jesus Don't Want Me For A Sumbeam'. All great songs so they should be worth a listen.

Vaselines are sweet, but I think their best song (which he never covered) was "The Day I was a Horse" thats an awesome song. :)

A great song he did cover was "Lake of Fire" and he also covered "Plateau" both Meat Puppets songs, I actually like the originals much better. But I do prefer his version of "Oh, Me"

Go see em. go alone if need be. They are really really good live. At least they were the two times I saw them...but that was before Lukin left the band.

Its kinda cool that alot of these bands passed through local bars here as we're not too too far from Seattle. Its strange to think that Nirvana was almost booed offstage here...

Tad! Yes!
I actually listened to an album of theirs the other day, after a loooong time of not hearing them. It was the one produced by J Mascis (he even plays piano on one of the songs)...i think its called Inhaler. Definitely their strongest album (at least from what I've heard)...there is some sick crunch guitar on that album.

Have you ever heard it, Carolyn? (:

damn, Dan Peters quit too? that's a shame
And Steve Turner losing his edge...that I would have to see to believe. Then again, I guess a dude can't atone for having beer dumped on him after a certain point in his life...
