In the most recent issue of Guitar Buyer (UK) The Pixies are in the Tone Zone... (Frank Black and Joey Santiago)- on 1 page at the back of the magazine. So you can see what equipment they use and how most of the stuff has already been said but some stuff hasn't
i dunno if this has already been posted but it is difficult to see with all the reunion bunf....

Copy the URL text and paste it into a new browser window and it works. You might have to clear your history or open a different browser.
Cool article, thanks! |

Why not exploit this opportunity to correct it? |

I'd say it was pretty spot on.

There are some other nice articles about the instruments at aleceiffel.net - http://aleceiffel.free.fr/gear.html
They do contradict the new article a little -
FB: " My only pedal is a T.C. Electronic line driver/booster, which is great because it has a built-in noise gate. "
Joey:"My only effect is a little boost pedal. "
" the distortion pedal used on Trompe le Monde was a BOSS Super Distortion"

Yeah - thats cool.
I think the inaccuracy is the use of the Marshall Guvnor. There is a guitargeeks entry for Joey that lines out his rig circa 1991, and he's using the Guvnor. I seriously doubt he is using this thing now. I had one - in 1991. They suck. I hated mine anyway. This pic in the gallery (thank you Dave Noisy!) shows that there is not a Guvnor in the rig..at least from what we can see: http://www.frankblack.net/gallery/gallery.asp?action=viewimage&categoryid=18&text=&imageid=70&box=&shownew=
I do wonder what that little custom 'AnalogMan looking' pedal is, tho. Maybe thats the boost he's talking about... |

We just received today an interview from the Martinis, that will soon be put online on Alec Eiffel.
One of our questions was about their gear in studio and on stage and here is the answer from Joey (from yesterday): "In the studio I usually use 2 guitars, a Les Paul gold top and an ES-345. That usually covers most of the tones I like. I have a Marshall JCM 800 and a Fender Vibrolux. I try not to use any pedals."
