Plain as in just chocolate right? Definitely the way of progress. However, even these pale in comparison to Reece's Pieces (sp?) Being foreign, I don't get the chance to have these often, but they are sheer genius. Even better than Smarties.

What's up with the "black & white" m&m's. Totally unappetizing.

When Dad took me and my brothers fishing when we were kids, he'd buy us one thing of candy each. My older and younger brothers both always got Plain and I always got peanut. I never understood it because the Plain are so boring.

Are you referring to these Mr Cheese?
i.e. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Yummy but very very sweet.
My in-laws had a week long holiday in New York recently. They brought back a bag of Hershey's Kisses which, it has to be said, had the odour and taste of stale vomit.

We don't have those peanut butter M&Ms over here. A friend of mine brought some back last time he was in the US, they were fucking awesome - why are we discriminated against? |

i remember on a field trip at university years ago a very weird young fellow asking during one of our lecturers more boring speeches a most pertinent question: Is 1 M&M an M? any takers?

I´ve only been here a short time but this is definitely the most frivolous post I have seen. Peanut.

Those are Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Reese's Pieces look like plain M&M's but have peanut butter instead of chocolate. M&M's are better than Reese's Pieces, but not much is better than Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

Gotta be Peanut. Which is funny, coz I absolutely hate nuts in chocolate of any description (you know where you can stick your Ferrero Rochers, Mr. Ambassador), with the sole exception of peanut M&Ms.
Yeah, and the plain ones make me cough too. |

Over here Smarties sell like crazy. I hate them. M&M's are very hard to find so stock up on M&M's before visiting SA!
The plain M&M's are the best

To be fair I'd rather have Smarties than M&M's anyway, so a shortage won't be an issue. Anyway, no chocolate-related snack of any sort compares to Minstrels, so whats the point of arguing?

For once I find myself in agreement. Minstels are pretty high up our list of foods to munch whilst watching a dvd.
Calistanian - minstrels are M&M shaped but much larger and uniformingly brown with chocolate inside. Very tasty.

Since the candy is called M&M's (and this is apparently undisputed, unlike the whole Lego issue), I would think one is called an M&M, not just an M.

Minstrels = full of chocolatey goodness. I used to live off them and Galaxy Caramel's in college. And I wondered why I put on wait...

I love peanut M&M's. They're one of my very favorite things in the world. If I'm ever on Death Row (not the record label), my last meal will be a big bag of peanut m&m's and milk.
However, I can't eat them. If I eat too many I'm guaranteed to get a zit or two within a few days. And I don't like zits. So I avoid peanut M&Ms even though they tempt me so. |

I think they're both candy. I've always been one to consider candy more of a dessert than a snack. Or have I? This is a very interesting topic of discussion.

i think the problem with peanuts in chcocloate is the fact that it is combining unhealthy things with healthy things. see, if you're eating chocolate in the first place, you don't want to feel cheated by also eating something non-chocolate... what's the point?
it's like if frank released and album where after every song of his, we had one by jessica simpson...
like 2 immiscible fluids.
