its an anniversary of sorts for me today. 12 years ago at the Boston Garden(torn down 11/97), i got to see the Pixies open for U2. sad thing is that i do not remember much of the show(probably the drinking, then and since). i do remember that day, or at least how i felt. i remember knowing that because, i was seeing the Pixies, i was better than everyone else(normally i just thought that). i was a 17 year old junior who could not care for most of what was going on around me, especially at my high school. that day in school i was king, at least i was going to see THE KING. i have friends who still have not gotten over that.
the true importance of that day remained hidden for some time. even after their original split, i did not believe that i would not see them again. it probably was not until '96 or '97 that i came to terms w/ the breakup. now the circle is closing and there are 38 days untill i see them again, and i still have friends that will not be able to get over this.
gone are the days of despair. here are the days of jubilation.

I was there too. That was the last time I saw them. |
