Someone asked this in another thread in regards to the argument of the Pixies playing with the Strokes or White Stripes. Seems a lot of people don't want this too happen. Myself, I can't stand the Strokes or White Stripes, but that's me and I am entitled to my opinion. So I don't want ti tto happen. They didn't do stuff like this then, so why now?

Anyways, what other bands do FB fans listen to? Other than the Pixies or Breeders?

Myself:

Archers of Loaf
Crooked FIngers
Rocket from the Crypt
Alkaline Trio
The Beatles
The Flaming Lips
They Might Be Giants
The Sultans
Radiohead
Grandaddy
The Misfits
Mr. Scruff
Nightmares on Wax

so many! who have I loved best though, oingo boingo, the smiths, the cure, the pixies, v. femmes...nirvana is so awesome. too many to list. I do not mind the strokes or the white stripes - its good listening.
So, dark outsider, you're a big oingo boingo fan. Couldn't place your signature quote, unbelievable how I'm slipping. Thought I was the only person in the world who bought that so-lo album.
Sultan, I've only heard 1 modest mouse song, intruiging. Kind of new-wavish? how is it?

this will get out of control...i suggest to come up with your 5 most favourable music things beside FB & pixies - okay, i confess, i love counting....

however, mine at the moment:

suzanne vega - the greatest songwriter ever
leonard cohen - the greatest songwriter ever (well, more a poet than a songwriter)
syd barrett - *really* the greatest songwriter ever
bob dylan - the greatest songwriter ever, or whatever...
jesus & mary chain - they somehow just deserve it

About a year ago there was a thread dealing with albums that you could mark as being real milestones in your life.

Where is it...?

I think the key to enlightenment is the fact that it says "other than the Pixies or Breeders" at the start of the thread.

Talking Heads, Joy Division, TMBG, Throwing Muses and various other things.

Hey there's a band called ella guru? I thought it was just a weird captain beefheart song that only I liked.

And is it possible to find miracle legion albums? Polaris/Miracle Legion are awesome dudes but their albums have been out of print for a while.
