Yeah ... I would highly advise anyone traveling from far away (or even people in or near Minneapolis) to consider Winnipeg instead. Those prices are looking pretty nice now, and like I said, there might be some extras popping up on this forum (just an educated guess).

Winnipeg might not be the first show, but there will be enough of a buzz up there that you'd think it was ...

I live in Minneapolis and will be willing to help out people traveling to see the Pixies. My friend Annie and I are looking for tickets and once we aqcuire them, we will give space for up to ten people in our apartment. As we don't have ten beds, the space will be for sleeping bags but it is still better than shelling out $80 bucks for a hotel. E-mail me with questions.

If anybody has 2 extras PLEASE let me know as i can't afford to buy scapled tickets nor will I feed the capitalistic desease of the ticket sellers on e-bay as they take away from the fans to line their pockets with greed.

Is it too late to ask for 2 tickets? How does this thing work?

If anyone needs a place to crash here in Minneapolis we have a spare room in our house. And we live only a hop, step away from the Fine Line. I could also provide a ride to the venue. I'm just asking in this favor for 2 tickets(which I would purchase) to the show. Please contact me if interested. Thanks.. Ryan.. makers888@hotmail.com

Hi all, sorry for not posting sooner.

Ok, here's my deal. I did get 4 tickets to the Fine Line show. Now that I have these though, my friend no longer wants to go to winnipeg but I've decided I'm going to both shows.
So... I now have 3 tickets available for Winnipeg (I think two are spoken for with the distribution talked about in the Winnipeg post, haven't looked there yet) so I have another one available for Winnipeg.

And I have 2 available for the Fine Line.
I don't know how to handle raffling these off to people here though. I won't post my email to avoid spam, sorry.
Any ideas?

First off, someone should take charge and run a lottery here. I noticed they ran a lottery for Davis -- two tickets were doled out to a pool of like 15-20 people. I don't know how many people we have asking for Minneapolis, but it's looking like there at least should probably be more than two tickets available.

Also Havalina, could I put your other extra Winnipeg down as available in the Winnipeg ticket exchange? We're trying to do a third round for people who missed out or didn't get enough in the first couple rounds, for the very reason of the fact that some might become available as a result of the Minneapolis thing.

Hello,
I work right across the street from the Fine Line (Minneapolis) too and totally missed out.
I'd love 2 tix but would settle for one. Please add me to the list.
Thanks!

SOB STORY: My roommate (who pawned off his Pixies cds a couple years ago).... has a ticket for both the Minneapolis & Winnipeg show!!! It makes me so angry that a half assed fan like him can go to 2 shows and I don't have any tickets. To make matters worse I live in Minneapolis. If I'm not too late could I be put on the list please. Pretty please.

Wow Chislic, your roommate must have put forth an MVP caliber performance to secure those tickets.

For the record: I have NEVER pawned a Pixies CD.

If you live near the venue, maybe you can ask the box office the day of the show if they expect any tickets to open up at the last minute. Got tickets to the "Down from the Mountain" tour a couple years ago that way, it had been sold out for 6 months and 2 hours before the show I got 2nd row seats. Just an idea, even if you have almost no shot of getting a ticket this way, at least it's a shot...

BTW Chislic, here's the plan:

1. Find out where your roommate stores his tickets.
2. Find your roommate's mailbox.
3. Get a dog.
4. Buy 2 tickets for this show: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/05003779A0695E81?brand=&artistid=733860&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=50
5. Have your dog chew up one of the tickets
6. Swap this ticket for the Winnipeg ticket your roommate is hiding
7. When ticket for the Fine Line show arrives in the mail, swap the other ticket you bought in step #4
8. Buy your roommate lots of Kleenex because he will be crying for days.

OR

Just beat your roommate's ass for not thinking of you when he got tickets. Then take his tickets.

See? All problems have a solution or two.

Hmmm...Very tempting

Chislic I can relate. My lameass friend who would've never heard the joy that is The Pixies if it weren't for me didn't bother to get me a ticket. And what's worse is her other ticket goes to her boyfriend who doesn't even know who The Pixies are!

Now where's my bat!!

The more I read here, the more I hope Minneapolis isn't the first show of the tour. Not for my sake but for the Pixies' sake, for history's sake. Because from the looks of it ... think about it. Pixies come to Minneapolis to play their first show in 12 years ... in front of a crowd of jocks/Dave Matthews fans/what have you??? People who get moderately excited when they hear Where Is My Mind or Monkey Gone to Heaven, but for most of the set just drink and chat and look like deer caught in headlights when they play such an obscure song as ... Havalina?

That's my fear anyway ... I hope I'm exaggerating a TON.

Then again, maybe this is why this is a WARMUP show. They get all the kinks out for Winnipeg, the REAL first show of the tour (that's not me being bitter -- I am going to the Minneapolis show).

Regardless, choosing Drive 105 to handle this was pretty ridiculous in retrospect.

i'd love 2 or 3 tickets to the minneapolis gig, as it'd be a great exscuse to say hi to my aunt anita, my uncle jeff, and my sweet granny, who live in new hope. can i please be on the shameless beggars list?
but really though, somebody get stymie in, so's he can record the show on his DAT. a bootleg of the pixies' first reunion show? everybody wins with that one.

OK, this is out of control. I have to retaliate. I am Chislic's roommate. I happened upon his posting yesterday and thought it would be funny to post a response and not identify myself. Kind of a funny ha ha for my roommate who I'm sure didn't think I'd see the posting. If the fact that this was the first time I've ever posted on a message board makes me a "half-assed" fan, I apologize. Here is the reason I have tickets for two shows (Winnipeg and Mpls.) and my roommate does not. A friend of mine called me on Friday the day before Winnipeg tickets went on sale, and said, "let's go to Winnipeg, tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10:00." I said, "sure" and planned on getting tickets the next morning. Anyone who got tickets for this show knows how fast it sold out. My plan was to get as many as possible (with Chislic of course being on my list of people who would get an extra ticket). I was only able to get two. My friend who I had already made the plan with got the other one. As for the Minneapolis show. I found out about it about 10 minutes after Ticketmaster sold out. Luckily the same friend from the Winnipeg show found out about it earlier, left work in the middle of the day, drove downtown (100 mph according to him), triple parked his car, and was able to get THE LAST FIVE TICKETS the Fine Line had for sale. (this is a good story by the way if anyone wants to hear it) Said friend doesn't know my roommate and has never met him. Can I expect him to give my roommate a ticket before his friends whom he has known for years? Should I feel bad that I got one? I think not. As for my half-assed fandom. Like I said in my first posting, I have NEVER pawned a Pixies record. I have been listening to them since 8th grade (which was 1990), and the last time I checked there wasn't a requirement to own every record by a band, or have a certain score on any 'fan-o-meter' to purchase tickets and go to a show. I am not a jock. I am in fact terrible at sports (sans Xbox NHL 2004). I despise Dave Matthews. I go to 5-10 shows a month and rarely drink, never chat, and get annoyed by people who do. Does anyone honestly think the first Pixies show in ten years will be attended by a bunch of drunk jocks? So I'm sorry if my attending two shows (that I NEVER thought I'd see) of one of the two bands that introduced me to good music (the other being Sonic Youth) in 8th grade, and led to indie rock and my NOT being into Dave Matthews today bothers anyone, but I'm still gonna go, and love it. I can't wait. This monkey's going to heaven.

P.S. Chislic this posting has nothing to do with you. I can understand why you are upset that I'm going to two shows and you aren't. I would be upset too. I don't want you to be upset with me when we get home tonight. I really think this whole thing is pretty hilarious that people were getting fired up about it.

P.P.S. Boy oh boy, I sure hope they play Cannonball

Oh yeah, and Winnipeg is a good 7 hour drive from Mpls. We're leaving Wednesday morning, going to the show and all nighting it back to get to work by 9 or 10. If that isn't half-assed dedication I don't know what is.

I have tix to the Minny, Winny, and 'Couv shows. I don't much care for anything that the Pixies did outside of TROMPE LE MONDE and the covers that I've heard (e.g., "Wild Honey Pie" and "Here Comes Your Man"). I just love watching David Lovering, so I think I'll pr'y go to the shows with my friends who like to find ways to get tough tickets and are able to do so because they live off of proceeds from trust funds and have connections at all the cool local clubs. When I'm not playing tennis or clubbing, I like tanning and making fun of how un-commercial and artsy Dave Matthews has gotten. But I believe that I'm entitled to attend this show (and, really, I believe that there are some things to which I'm not entitled, though -- as should be entirely clear -- this is one of those things about which I don't not feel entitled). See you guys at the Fine Line, if I'm not too busy that night.

The Calistanian,
Thanks for pointing out a typo in my earlier post. I corrected it. I really appreciate the assistance of a sophist like yourself in this ultimately significant endeavor. As for the other grammatical "error" you pointed out, you might just want to put that clever lil' brain of yours to work a mite bit harder. Incidentally, in your grossly disappointing misuse of "i.e." in the parenthetical in your helpful post, you committed a choice grammatical error by neglecting to use an all-important comma to follow the Latin abbreviation.

You know, I can't decide if The Passion of El Diablo is joking or not. If he is joking, it is really fucking funny. I mean, that first post -- brilliant satire! I can just see a guy with a homemade t-shirt with an airbrushed picture of David Lovering on it, maybe with a tennis sweater tied around his neck! Don't forget the second post: by intentionally overusing the thesaurus and pretending to be smart, he managed to deliver irony in it's finest form -- the kind of which Alanis Morrisette could never begin to comprehend!

Of course if he is not joking... no way. Not possible!
