it hasn't been by choice, believe me.. i've literally been working every waking moment for the past month. 16 hour days, weekends..
the only thing i have in my refrigerator is some stale tortillas and probably not-so-fresh eggs.
don't ask me when the last time i did laundry was. |

I haven't had a beer since November 29th. I wasn't an alcoholic before, but I think I am now, as it's like all I think about. I have a bacteria infection in my stomach that gives me ulcer-like symptoms...it sucks! This has been the worst 4 months of my life! I can't eat spicy foods, fatty foods, alcohol, desserts...so basically if it's enjoyable to eat, I can't have it! So, I'm on an unintentional alcohol-abstinence as well. At least I'm going to see the Pixies in Winnipeg!

I feel your pain. I had stomach ulcers and still have a mighty stomach ailment. I'm told it could lead to cancer. Kinda sucks, haha. It's probably what you have to: H-Pylori. I guess I haven't had beer for about the same time floopy, but I'm doing good. I was never a big drinker before so I'm wondering whether to give up totally... It'd be cash in the pocket, after all.

Hey thanks The CroutonFuton! I'll check that out. Yes I do have H-Pylori bacteria. What regiments have they put you on so far? Maybe you can e-mail me.
It totally sucks going from eating any type of food or beverage you want, to only being able to eat bland food. Really sucks. I daydream about beer and steaks often...seriously.

Oh boy..I've tried almost everything. CeaseFire is the only thing that has helped me at all, and even then...I hate taking it because it tastes so bad, hahaha. (You have to chew the things!) Acidopholis always helps...so get some capsules of that or just eat lots of yogurt...umm...Nexium didn't help me at all. What else..I'm guessing you have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) too, eh? It's quite common with people with H. Pylori...now that really blows, haha. I also take Carafate which seems to help a litte. Jesus..I take tons of medicines for the Pylori and for Lyme I can't keep them straight, hahaha. What have you been on?

Well...when I first went in to the doctor, they took a blood test, and the test came back negative for the H-Pylori. Then after about a month of Prilosec and such, they decided they needed to take my gallbladder out. They did that January 7th. I made no improvement. They had me do a gastroscopy (camera down the throat) and finally the H-Pylori showed up. They gave me antibiotics which I took for 2 weeks, and made marginal improvement. But still felt horrible. So I went back in, they put me on Nexium, which I currently am on, and it helps a little, then had me see a stomach specialist earlier this week. He's given me Bentyl (for irritable bowel syndrome), which I just started, so don't have any results on that yet. So we'll see. I also take Manuka Honey before meals, which is supposed to help, but I haven't noticed any change from that. So we'll see how this Bentyl goes. I'm also going to go see a homeopathic specialist to see what they can try to do. But I'm going to try those wafers, they at least sound like they can relieve some of the symptoms.

Damn, way to go Floop. I quit for 2 years a few years after college, but that ended about 2 years ago too. I think I would go blind if I didn't drink for 1 week... and if I was working 16 hour days. There's no time for sleep. You better be making the money for that. Anyway, way to go!

I've been on here everyday. After I reached 1000 posts I realized that most of those posts were worthless, so I've been just reading most of the time. And I won't be seeing the PIxies anytime soon, so II've little to be excited about, I guess I am a little excited for the reveiws and setlists and stuff... anyway

Hey floop, could you figure out that whole Unified/String Theory problem for me? I just had a half a bottle of red wine (good stuff - Australian, Milton Park Shiraz, $8.99/bottle), and I don't think I'm gonna get very far in my bedtime reading tonight.
I'll check back with your thread in the morning, and then we can all go on a time-travelling party, and get wasted. We'll end up in a membrane on an alternate-universe dimension of a calabi yau space, with no idea who we are, or that we even give a damn, and what the hell, you only live once! (yeah, so I'm drunk. Somebody had to take LBF's place! )

I don't want to take your place, LBF! -I miss your posts, and it seems I'm not alone in that sentiment. I thought I'd just give ya a friendly jab in the ol ribs, and see if you're still alive and kickin', old friend!
That, and I am drunk. And posting. On the forum. I only strive to follow in your hallowe..holoeghe...halowed..esteemed!! footsteps!
Ain't no one gonna mention Pabst blue Ribbon?
edit: I should add that I am only joking. I am actually inebriated..just a bit... and I'm not quite sure if my words are coming across properly. No harm meant, dear LBF. Just meant to let you know you are missed!

Well, glad that you're lurking if nothing else, Andy. Though I think we're going to have to work on your beer of choice!

the string theory is quite simple really.
people have been approaching it from the wrong angle this whole time. it's not actually a string, but more like one gigantic ball of yarn, connected at both ends, tangled in an eternal, self-perpetuating mass. it all became clear to me when i was playing with my kitten..
next please. |

no disrespect to Hawking, but his theories of quantum gravity are laughable, at best. the universe is not expanding, but in fact contracting. there never was a big bang, but on the contrary, slow-going, widespread shrinking. for the layperson: think of a gigantic ball of yarn getting wet and being thrown in a dryer. . that's kind of like what's happening with us.
it's sad to think he's spent his entire life working on an ill-conceived farce. but, you have to give him credit for trying.
next please. |

Hawking actually did take into account a contracting universe, and also one that decreased in speed by half, but never hit zero. And, there are theories that the universe has gone through several cycles of expansion and contraction, so your ball-of-yarn-in-the-dryer analogy is not too far off. But wait...this was supposed to be a funny thread? DAMNIT! *pulls out hair Chris Farley style* STUPID! STUPID!
Take me, break me, tell me a good one and maybe I'll cry
