Actually, i'm having a debate with a friend of mine and trying to prove to him that none of them live in Boston anymore. And, none of them were originally from Boston even though te band formed there. |

Boston was a coincidence, a chance meeting by four musicians. Joe and Charles where at U-Mass and from what I can remember on the Gouge Documentary Dave said he was also at college and that Kim just showed up in town a week or so before the now famous advertisement. I believe all four live on the west coast today. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
They owe nothing to Boston.

the only question mark i have is where Mr. Santiago is based -my guess is the east or west coast or possibly somewhere in between. Kim is obviously never too far from Chicago as an acquaintance of mine here was sharing the news of the pixies reforming way back when title TK had just come out and spending a lot of time here. this guy knows them all apparantly but mainly Kim. -seenyoreBlack & the pixies supposedly now have title to the back catalog is what i heard on the old school rumour mill today -anyone have insight on that one? -i wouldn't be surprised to learn that is old and obvious news given that my new phobia is that the web is satan's data base for losers to toss into the fire on burnt marshmellow night back at the club... ...i have my rubber gloves on and my identity cloak so i hope i'm safe. sometimes you just have to live on the edge. my new routine is to use a GPS system to get lost and abandoned under ground tunnels to get back home after giving the GPS system away to a stranger in a strange neighboorhood -at the end of a day like that who's got the energy to dink around on the web and risk eternal damnation? -a bowl of cap'n crunch and Gilligans' island reruns caps a perfect sunset day for me thankyoo. -they call me 007, ...blarg007 (in all honesty the 007 part is my social security number and the mileage on my JaguarXKE the day i drove it into the ocean after hearing of the breakup of the pixies.

Regarding the Boston/Massachusetts connection:
In addition to the fact that the band started here and basically remained a local band until the recording of Bossanova, I think Dave is originally from Burlington, MA which is a suburb about 20 minutes from Boston. Joey is from Longmeadow, MA which is out by Springfield. I think his family is still out here. When I saw the Martinis a couple of times in 1995 in Cambridge, MA, his whole family was there. Joey’s wife is from Rhode Island. I don't know how Kim ended up in Boston, but here ex-husband John Murphy still lives around here. She lived in Charlestown when the Pixies started. Charles went to U-Mass with Joey and moved to Boston to start the band. His brother still lives down Cape Cod and runs a bar there. Since about 1989, just about all of the Pixies shows around Boston were around Thanksgiving. I always figured it was planned so they could see their families. During the Bossanova and Trompe tours when I saw them at The Orpheum Theater in Boston, there was a whole row of older looking people which were obviously family members and during one of the shows the Pixies were introduced by a little kid who came on stage and said “Please welcome my brother’s band “THE PIXIES!!” (This kid was rocking out by the side of the stage. Someone once said that this is Charles’ half brother from one of his parent’s second marriages or something. Could be Dave’s brother. He was white, so I’m ruling out Joey.) The Pixies corporate entity JOKIDACH Corp. was a Massachusetts corporation. I think Frank’s manager, Ken Goes, still operates out of the Boston area.
So the Pixies/Boston connection is very strong. As Sepultura said “rooooooots … bloody roooooots!!!”
The Pixies roots are in Boston.

I'm pretty sure they all currently reside in southern Cali. Except for Frank, who (ostensibly) lives in Portland, OR. |

Though when I listen to Pan American Highway I'm reminded of the line "Maybe some day we'll make Omaha home," and I think that that would be great because it's only a few hours from where I live.
