Time to confess. What's the record you're most ashamed of when someone comes to visit and snoops around our record collection.(Not the crap ones given to you as Christmas gifts by cretinous relatives but the ones you were stupid enough to buy yourself)
Mine is a vinyl copy of Arena by Duran Duran

Lots of stuff from my R & B phase when I was younger: Tevin Campbell, All 4 One, Keith Sweat. I've wanted to sell a lot of that crap for years, but don't have the balls to take it into a used CD store cuz I don't the clerks seeing me with those albums.

I own every INXS album. They were the first band I ever liked.
Aside from that, Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson

i have most of bryan adams' stuff, right up to waking up the neighbours, he went a bit naff post everything i do, well the album following wasn't bad, but after that... i still thinking reckless is a fantastic album, but i try not to listen to it. bryan adams was the first music i was properly into when growing up (about 8 or 9 i think)... along with jesus jones and wonderstuff...

Ah, you Brits don't have Chappelle Show! You might rather enjoy how Dave Chappelle takes the complete PISS out of R. Kelly (both figuratively and literally)
Whoever thought an R&B crooner could be into underage girls AND filthy bodily-function sex as well??

oh yeah, i think 4 Non Blondes "Bigger, Better, Faster, More" is my most embarrasing CD... but to be completely fair, there are two or three song on there that I think are quite good. Even to this day.

Ooh, Kula Shaker, now you're onto something. That is seriously funny now, although it was great at the time, he said with a wistful nostalgia.

The most embarassing record (vinyl lp) is "Buddy Max: The Roller Skating Cowboy", some self released thing from the early 80s from some fella down in florida. He does these country-polka songs w/ bad drum machines. It's sooooo good. It's not embarassing to me, just him. *edit*
Ok, i just found this web site, and it turns out he was included on the "Songs in the key of Z" collection, which is outsider music stuff. Kwazy. I thought I was the only one tortured by him. Go here for more info: http://www.satorisoundcoffeehouse.com/media/features/2003/000019.asp |

Ha, I have Bone Thugs n Harmony E1999 Eternal on tape! And I have the original before they replaced the old version of Crossroads with the remix/remake that was huge on the radio. That's a kickass album. It's the first of the month, wake up wake up, so cash your checks and get up.
I have 12 Play by R. Kelly, too.

I would have to say that I own all of the Smashing Pumpkins big releases (and some of their singles) they used to be my favorite band of all time. But, I totally understand why some people don't like them. (I think mainly it's Billy Corgan's unusual way of singing.)
GoddessTheory, I also have Kula Shaker. It used to seem good, but now it just seems contrived.
I have to admit I still like some songs by Tears for Fears. Yes, I'm embarassed to own it, but by God they're just so catchy! I haven't listened to it in probably about a year, though.

lol. I used to loooove that song.
Avril Lavigne - "Let Go" is my most embarrassing. Though it's so out of place that it is almost funny. But, alphabetically it is about 7 CDs away from the Pixies section... so I guess that is pretty embarassing.

Smashing Pumpkins "Siamese Dream" is amazing. In retrospect, now that I'm not obsessed with them, I would still say it's their best album. It's the one I always grab when I want to listen to the Pumpkins. Cherub Rock, Quiet, Rocket, Hummer and Mayonaise are songs that totally surpass the normal rock song. I like Mellon Collie, but the songs often don't reach the same level of emotion and territory explored as the songs on Siamese Dream do, even the longer songs on Mellon Collie like Porcelina and XYU, they don't go very far. Now take Silverfuck or Hummer, those just go a million miles and keep on running. Outstanding record. Quiet is the one that rocks the most, yes, even more than the super Gish-ified metal of Geek USA.

Smashimg pumpkings are a great band, you don't need to be ashamed of that, Avril Lavinge on the other hand is a different matter and you must have bought it within the last few years. |

I think I'd have to agree with Mr. Monkey here. I don't personally like Nirvana or the Smashing Pumpkins, but you've said yourself that you do like the records, but you're sick of them. Well, isn't there a chance that you'll want to hear them again sometime along the line, and then you'll be sorry that you sold them all for less than what it might cost you to buy them back again?
Now, ProverbialCereal selling his Avril album, THAT I could understand. But it doesn't look like he's planning on it.
