Someone earlier on said 76 pages. That was before the Minnie show was announced.
The weather is freakin' stupid! I got splashed by cars 3 times today and the walk home from work tonight through several inches of sludge was not right.

Don't worry guys, here in NW Minnesota we were getting 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit with thunderstorms and hail. I feel your pain.

Wow, this thing will never die! I heard about the prairies and what's going on with the weather. Here in Toronto we've been in the mid 20's at least for all this week. I just had to rub it in :)

At least in Winnipeg when it snows like this we don't have to call in the army...

Toronto is notorious for having the reputation of believing they are the center of the universe. However, we in the west will take any opportunity to make fun of them. A few years back Toronto had what they felt was a major blizzard. By our standards it was no more than a common occurence. Anyway, the mayor of the great city of Toronto decided it was necessary to bring in the Canadian army to help out with the panic and chaos that was sure to ensue. I don't know if anyone in Toronto found this humourous or not but us westerners laughed our asses off.

"Oh my god, it snowed in Toronto and the lead story on the CBC national news is army truck patrolling the streets...." What a bunch of pussies...

I see...
We make fun of the same thing in the states when some half-way southern city or east coast city gets a "blizzard" and school closes for a week, and nobody leaves their house, and there's all sorts of accidents (I don't make fun of those I guess) because nobody knows how to drive on the ice and snow. Whereas us in northern Minnesota wouldn't miss a beat in the same weather. It is kind of funny to see all the coverage an east coast city gets for getting a "blizzard" when we get the same thing or worse every two weeks during the whole winter, not to mention 30 degrees below zero (Fahrenheit) and 50 mph winds on top of it.

I am a man with 3 fingers...but that doesn't count my index finger nor my thumb.

We were laughing our asses off too but for a different reason. See the reason they had to call the army in was because the few years before the blizzard Toronto had almost no snow. Well because of that the geniuses in public office decided to keep making the snow removal budget smaller and smaller year by year because of course there was never any chance that it could start snowing a lot again. That year it of course started snowing a lot and by the time of that snow storm we had no money left for snow removal. I know you're thinking why didn't the money get diverted from somewhere else. Well Toronto was going through amalgamation of it's burroughs and cities then because of the provincial government and was forbidden to have a deficit on the super thin budget it was on. Our mayor at the time Mel Lastman was the biggest joke in the world. He's also famous for the line "I don't want to be sitting around a fire with savages" when asked why he cancelled his planned trip to Africa. So he comes up with the bright idea to call in the army and tries to convince the residents fo Toronto that it's necessary becasue of the severity of the storm. Some people in Toronto buy it because they see a half metre of snow on the ground which no one has come to sweep but the majority see it as the bullshit it was. He becomes a lughing stock even more so and the people of Toronto become the laughing stock of the whole country. Needless to say he's no longer in office.

Emo Phillips was in Winnipeg a few months ago and he did a bit on a local radio station to promote his show. During the interview he started talking about what it was like to be from a cold climate, he is from the Chicago area. He said that he was once in Alabama when they had a "blizzard". He said it was about an inch of snow and it brought everything to a standstill. He pointed out that this would be nothing to us northerners and we would just continue about our business. then he said "I guess it all kind of balances out though, because if I found myself in a room with a pig and my pants were around my ankles, I wouldn't know what to do..."

Matt, I remember the same diatribe on the trip down south. Admit it dude, we have the most geometrically aligned electrical posts in all of Canada and the world. Admit that you work for "the man" for the best interests of TO to propogate the myth that TO was in complete control of the situation. Blame it on local government prescence based on previous years of accumulated snow fall. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to get on your bad side and could you swing me tickets for Cats?

We can't let this thread die.

I have to admit one of the wonders of Winnipeg besides "the army base", "the mall", "the snow pile" and "the road" is the civil servants of Winnpeg's dedication to perfect alignment of electrical poles. It's the eighth wonder of the world if you ask me. I admit to nothing else though.

Well, I'm going to see HAM on the 29th and I'll be sure to post the details that I get from the band surrounding the show at the BTC. They are slowly coming along with their website at http://www.hamtheband.com/index.html and there are some tracks for download as well.
Anyone that's interested can stay with me in Winnipeg during the peak of the mosquito season. The idea is to get totally loaded and then pass out in a park. When we come to, the one with the most bites wins. Any takers?

So I'm partially recovered from the gig. From what I remember it was awesome! Choboter, if you were there then I missed you. Saw a couple of folks with Pixies shirts on. Jim was fairly apologetic to me about not returning my calls because they were kinda' busy.
The one story they told me that kicks ass in a wierd kind of way happened back stage. Apparently when the other guitarist from HAM whose name is Paul turned around rather quickly he struck/stunned Kim in the face with the tuning end of his guitar. I wasn't there but I have a movie of this running through my head. Go see 'em in Alberta. Sure to please.

Well, since I'm here anyway, I might as well announce my new weblog. In honor of this site, I have written a short story about the pixies reunion and posted it there: http://plasticporkbone.typepad.com/plastic_porkbone/2005/03/a_pixies_story.html

I also write about other random stuff such as new music, bad drivers, the weather, and other nonsense. Feel free to check in often!

I liked your page Porkbone. Ah, the memories. Winnipeg is starting to look like a shithole again thanks to seasonal change. This time sans Pixies so a little more shitty it is.

I like Kasabian. I can't help it.
