| A Belgian newspaper 'De Morgen' announced today that the Pixies will reunite on the festival 'Rock Werchter 2004' (Belgium). The message was also broadcasted by Belgian radio 'Studio Brussel'. |

For those who understand dutch, it is confirmed in this newspaper by the organiser of the festival in Belgium that the Pixies are playing in Tw, at te beginning of july...
"Een van de meest invloedrijke rockgroepen uit de jaren tachtig en negentig plant een reünie. De Pixies gaan vanaf april weer in originele bezetting op tournee door de Verenigde Staten en zakken nadien naar Europa af voor een reeks zomerfestivals.
Concertorganisator Herman Schueremans bevestigt dat ook Rock Werchter daarbij op het programma staat. In een gesprek met deze krant vertelde zanger Frank Black onlangs nog dat er pas sprake van een reünie kon zijn “vanaf het moment dat bassiste Kim Deal van haar drugsverslaving af was”. In Belgium, Herman Schuremans is the biggest concert organiser (monopolistic, in fact). And the "morgen" is a big newspaper, not the "gossip kind".
As Herman said it to the newspaper, it is probably true, because the man knows what's talking about... TW is "his festival"... He sold it to and co-organizes it with Clearchannel!
And the Pixies already played at TW, more than once, if I'm not wrong...
The headliners of the week end are Metallica and David Bowie... Hope, if it happens, that Pixies will be playing before Bowie rather than the metal band... |

Dear Jo,
A spokesman of a dutch recordcompany also said that he THINKS that
the reunion only could happen if Kim would lay down the heroin.
That´s just plain stupid, because Kim never was a heroin junkie, as far as I know though, I thought Kelley was the one. Maybe because this spokesman said such a thing about kim, did the newspaper wrote this as the truth

| Yeah, I don't remember ever reading or hearing anything about Kim being addicted to anything. It's pretty shitty (and bordering on libel) for a professional publication to print an indirect allegation like that when it seems rather unsubstantiated. Besides, I doubt Frank would talk about something that personal and unrelated to himself during an interview. Possibly the publication printed the comment without his consent? |

I agree completely with Erebus. Whether it's right or wrong, a Pixies reunion saddens me.
I understand that some people (ie Peephole) might be happy to finally see them, but The Pixies had their own time and place and that is not what you will see even if a reunion takes place. I still won't believe it until it's actually happened, though.

My mind tells me that this reunion is probably a bad idea, and that it will never be as "magical" as I expect it to be.
But when I listen to my heart, I'm actually looking forward to it.
I wonder though, why the news was first brought out in Belgium (of all countries!). 
Anyway, we are still waiting for the official press announcement from Rock Werchter, but after what I heard yesterday, it is about 99% certain that the reunion is a fact!

De Pixies zijn terug en dat is vreemd, want jarenlang hield frontman Black Francis een reünie tegen. Inmiddels is het kwartet uit Boston bevestigd voor Werchter 2004. Na één ep en vier cd’s viel de band uiteen. Dat was in 1991, vier jaar na het verschijnen van de ep Come On Pilgrim. Tijdens het korte bestaan rees de ster van de Pixies snel tot grote hoogte. De band speelde alle grote festivals en scoorde hits met Gigantic en This Monkey’s Gone To Heaven.
De druk op de band nam toe en de sfeer daalde tot het vriespunt. Het verhaal gaat dat Black Francis tijdens de laatste tournee geen woord met bassiste Kim Deal heeft gewisseld. Hij zou jaloers zijn op de populariteit van zijn bandmaatje. Het feit dat juist zij het nummer Gigantic schreef zal daartoe hebben bijgedragen.
Black Francis werd Frank Black en ging solo verder. Kim Deal ging aan de drugs en verder met haar project ‘The Breeders’ en maakte later ook een album met The Amp. Gitarist Joey Santiago musiceerde met diens vriendin, hetgeen tot niets leidde. Drummer David Lovering werd goochelaar. In zijn show ‘scientific phenomenalism’ liet hij een gloeilamp in zijn mond branden.
Maar aan de onderlinge vetes en soloprojecten lijkt nu een eind gekomen. Geruchten dat de band weer de studio in was gegaan deden eerder dit jaar de ronde en nu de Pixies zijn bevestigd voor Werchter kunnen we dus spreken van een heuse reünie. Goed nieuws of wordt het niet meer dan een avondje Goud Van Oud?
Alex Bonders heeft sinds 1992 een cd winkel in Amsterdam: Gigantic. Hij is een groot Pixiesfan en zag de band acht keer. Hij was ook bij het eerste optreden in De Melkweg. “Die reünie is heel goed nieuws voor fans die ze nog nooit hebben gezien. Surfer Rosa blijft voor mij het beste album ooit. Gigantic is niet het allerbeste nummer, maar Where Is My Mind paste niet op de pui.”
Luc Bunt van cd-distributiebedrijf Bertus begeleidt Frank Black in Nederland tijdens persdagen. Hij wist al eerder dat een reünie een feit was. “Hij vertelde het mij, maar dat ging niet van harte. Hij wilde echt dat het geheim bleef. Ik denk wel dat het heel goed wordt. Frank Black is bang om op z’n bek te gaan en als het muzikaal niet interessant zou zijn, zou hij het niet doen.” Volgens Bunt betekent de opleving van de Pixies niet dat er een eind komt aan Frank Black and the Catholics, de huidige band van Frank Black. “Na de zomer komt er gewoon een nieuw Catholics album uit.”
Over het waarom van een reunie heeft Bunt zijn gedachten. “Eerst moest Kim Deal van haar heroïne verslaving afkomen. Daarbij begonnen de Pixiesnummers weer te leven voor hem. Hij speelde ze steeds vaker. En hij begint in te zien dat de Pixies een hele belangrijke band is.”
Eind jaren negentig verscheen een Nederlandse Pixies- tribute cd: Death To The Pixies, We’re Better. Koos Kreuk bewerkte Where Is My Mind tot Waar Is Mijn Hoofd. Kreuk vreest voor zijn carrière nu de Pixies weer gaan optreden: “Ik kreeg persoonlijk bijna pukkels van die Pixies-cover; maar sindsdien heeft de telefoon van Koos niet stilgestaan. Overal in het land wilden ze mij boeken voor het doen van louter Pixies-covers. Mijn eigen prijsnummers, kreeg ik aan de straatstenen niet meer kwijt. En nu de belangstelling eindelijk begon te luwen, en ik niet meer de jaarmarkten van Koedijk en Warmenhuizen hoef af te reizen, en mijn eigen repertoire weer in de belangstelling raakt krijgen we een reunie! Personally, I think the post above is a much more interesting translation than yours, billgoodman. It really gives us some good insight that your translation overlooked such as:
