And for the ones who didn't notice:
This is a petition for Cooking Vinyl (Bob Allen), Spinart Records (Sarah?) and Frank Black (Ken goes?)

I'm being greedy...but I don't care.
Two DVDs. One that shows the making of a new FB & the C's album (as long as the cameras don't mess up their chemistry)
and...
a live dvd. Open with the venue in the day, with their bus rolling in, setting up equipment, soundchecking and then to them taking the stage.
It could be a live compilation from various shows or if easier, they could film two nights in L.A. (or I guess, Portland, now, huh? Whatever's easier for Mr. Black and the fellas) and there ya go...another dvd.
cheers |

What you're hearing as a third guitar is Frank's vocal microphone picking up the unamplified sound of his guitar (could be acoustic or electric). This is happening because he is playing and singing at the same time, and you can hear it on most of the Catholics albums. For standard rock albums the final vocals are recorded after all the instruments are done, so this guitar "leakage" usually doesn't happen unless one is recording it all live.
OR SO THE RUSSIANS WOULD HAVE US BELIEVE! SIGN ME UP! (the new residents tour dvd is really cool w/ EDF wearing a weird elephant nose) |

what we should do is all pitch in and rent 2 cameras and make a deal for performance sound and on the next U.S. tour the cameras follow frank from venue to venue and film his shows. -i mean does anyone know if any footage exists for the DVD that we are petitioning for? -i would love to see them in the studio doin' takes -in that wilco movie they took forever to finalize a song -the catholics scenario would be a little more zoot i would think.
the FBnet members film it and shuttle the equipment from one local to the next for the next local members to use. or rent locally or something like that. with digital video being all the vogue these days it could work rather cheaply. and at some point the adept local members get to film them laying down some studio cuts. -and then at end of tour it gets crammed onto a 5 DVD set. -if we did it i am sure frank would be supportive. -just have to get past kengoes saying 'no filming at frank black concerts' (that is a quote) i for one could see this working. comments? otherwise consider me signed.

True about the homemade DVD's. It would be pretty simple to record DVD-R's from the video files in the FTP area.

How cool would it be if my first dumb sarcastic post seemed to be the start of a petition resulting in a actually FB DVD released in the year of 2004

i think the laserdisc petition had sarcasm down pat (although you can't beat laserdisc for a cheap format right now). i have a thing for the subject of documenting this band in some form of film/video as when i think of great rock/music footage i can picture this band being in the same league. -it could be great entertainment as we all know from going to a gig. there should be a DVD archive of a U.S. tour -there SHOULD be cameras rolling right now in europe. 10 years from now it is possible that these people are still around performing together but you can bet it just won't be the same. having a year in the life documented of what these guys are doing now would be something to cherish i would think.

how can it be possible that the thread ''Rich Gilbert, The Snob'' has more post?
PEOPLE JUST KEEP ON POSTING IN THIS TOPIC THE EARTH NEEDS A FB DVD
(figure: if the world already has a ms.doubtfire dvd, why the hell isn't there a FB DVD? You would think that there would be a 'first things first'-policy, but that doesn't seem the case)

I didnīt sign the petition that helped Arnold become the govenor of California. By the way, that has to be "the craziest appointment since Caligula made his horse Consul of Rome". But Iīll sign this one.
(even Frank Black, though heīs not too clever, would have been a better choice than Arnold ) |

who? ..arnold or frank? ..seriously that is a fairly stupid statement -i mean how could you be a fan and not have some awareness that the object of our fandom is a pretty sharp cookie?? for that matter what has someone in sweden to say about an absurd political situation in california?.. and then ..awww forget it ..it's too easy. bad humor is an easy launch pad for actual humor. that's all i can add.

Oh, sorry blarg007. So someone in Sweden canīt have an opinion on the political situation in California? Why? Someone has to. Donīt hate me for saying this but there seems to be somewhat of a trend in american politics to appoint really stupid people to govern, thatīs all. The american people should deserve better, but still they vote for assholes like George W.
And Frank Black doesnīt have a degree, heīs an admitted anthropology drop out. But that doesnīt make him stupid or anything, I think heīs a great songwriter and I admire him for it. But I should have known that some people here are so uptight regarding FB that they canīt take a fucking joke. Itīs music, it isnīt the fuckinī United Nations. |

<Oh, sorry blarg007. So someone in Sweden canīt have an opinion on the political situation in California? Why? Someone has to.> no, i think you can say what you want. -i wouldn't pretend to know if FB has a degree or not -i wasn't uptight -i kinda got in the middle of posting and then had to bail -apparantly it would have been better to erase and shut down then finish a thought-without much thought -why should i hate someone for their opinion? america has had a history of stupid leaders.
in all fairness given that we each have smarts in different areas (like an astrophycicist who can't cook an egg) after having coffe and thinking about it: FB is smart enough not to run for a political post but yeah probably not the type to know much about what to do if elected. for california's sake let's hope arnold is up to snuff. sorry to be so brusque i guess someone that far away caring at all about what goes on in california seems odd to me.
