just got an odd idea.how about a "tribute dvd"?all tapers contribute their home video stuff, someone makes an essential editing, someone the artwork and there you go.original(made by fans) video clips for fb singles would be great too but a bit more difficult.possible tittle(not so original i admit)"i've seen your picture".only for fans and no commercial crap of course.what do you say?

ok jo, you're pulling yourself into this
let's bomb spinart, cooking vinyl AND 4ad with emails
and that 'tribute DVD'-idea is good, but let's save that for another day. First the FB DVD
jo, do you think 4ad will work with cooking vinyl and spinart

i would prefer an official dvd too but since in 4ad aren't that fast(see pixies) an unofficial one would make the wait easier.at least jo can put some pressure on them.right jo?

I don't know really :) I would think that licensing a video to SpinArt and Cooking Vinyl is a possibility - who released FB's first two records in the US - was it Elektra? Because SpinArt would have to license those... thats when it gets into tricky waters
I should have shut up, shouldn't it :)
mind, having said that, labels like Play It Again Sam would own the rights to some videos too... its already sounding messy! |

signed if not already but what could all the 'home video' stuff add up to? and what about the quality etc,?? if a collective effort were to be used as meomentum to get his agency, cooking vinyl and spinart to go in on a serious documentation of the upcoming tour (wouldn't the australian leg be a nice place to start?). -they shouldn't have to but noone has done this yet and i am shocked frankly. when you watch talking heads' stop making sense you get this fantastic recall of a series of great shows and really all it was was jonathan demme being there for the run of shows in L.A. at the time. -the last waltz: martin scorsese -considered a classic among filmed concert events. -could it not make sense to lobby a director worth his mustard to consider a small project such as a filming of some shows for future release as a scorching rockumentary classic? i for one don't have the means to do this or i would but count me in for any ideas as to maybe how to make it work once a door is opened -i've thought a lot about it and it makes sense to get some entity with means to deal with FB&C's mgmnt. properly and carry through with a reliable product. watch 'lost in lamancha' about terry gilliams defeat in making the Don Quijote epic -theres a guy who needs a money project and this would be that -a film based on existing scheduled performances would inherently cost MUCH less than one with actors and sets. a quality finished product would have to be enticingly profitable given the history and popularity of this band and it's most famous member. David Lynch would a not so off pick -didn't he do the thing with Roy Orbison?? i mean talk about a guy with an eye and ear full of taste. hell he could do it out of his backyard like the mad scientist he seems to be at times -direct crews thru web connections- film some key dates with crack crews via remote -he could put a minimal time commitment into it that way i'm thinking. other than big names that would be obvious and return maybe a more unique and popular project to the table there have got to maybe be some hungry unknowns or semi un-known to take it and run. i can just see it, and i see it done really sweet -a couple different angles and good sound and some intereting filler and right there at minimum you have something to help get thru those blue days of no catholics'concert on the horizon -if done well enough a whole new breed of film goers could be feelin' the same pain. this petition thread has somehow gotten the ear (eye)of a lot of people that pop thru here and that is testimonial enough -i popped in an idea before -and this is not off thread because making a film is the same as making a DVD, no matter how you say or spray it. on the most base crude level look at it this way -if some related co. took whatever was laying around and decided to make a dvd product than o.k. -but what about some time and gear put into getting some very sweet sight and sound? -wether released as film or not it ends up on DVD and eventually into your sweaty palms to through on the dvd player whenever you want. take your pick -this petition is cool and all but i say let's take it to the particularly challenging level of: let's get a film MADE and make it KICK ASS. -is it so much too ask? is it so daunting to think that it can't be done - well maybe it is -but if it were done and it were the result of something that started here it could be a first.

And blarg returns from the fog - did you get rid of that snake?
Anybody ever see that crazy documentary about the band "Friends Forever"? Very good road-trip/home movie documentary of a band and its shows. Weird people, that band. There's a thought.

don't know if i got you right but these were my intentions: 1 collect good quality footage of shows(possibly entire ones) 2 select the best one or two and edit them 3 add fan made videos for fb singles since the official vids are copywrited 4 make free copies(just b&p) for members interested with modern pc's it shouldn't be that difficult and the quality would be more than acceptable.if this puts pressure on someone to release some official stuff so much the better if not (which is more probable since in almost 15 years of career fb has no official video releases pixies or solo) at least us fans will have in hand a quality product of our favourite artist, for us by us.
