Complete bbc sessions (from MK1 at least)
And new artwork by Chris Bigg

Was hoping for more Bossanova/Trompe anniversary reissues but this is quite nice

I wouldn't usually buy this type of stuff as I've got the original CD issue. But adding Hang on to your ego might just persuade me. That's the first ever official release of that recording I think?

Yes, isn't it just Frank with a drum machine?

per this
https://www.discogs.com/release/4565090-Pixies-At-The-BBC
"BBC John Peel Session (recorded 11/6/1990 at Protocol Studios, London, not a full band performance but Black Francis with a rhythm machine)"

Ah I see. That was summer in 1990. Same summer Pod came out. I remember reading in the NME about Pod and then I saw a bootleg tape of Black Francis solo tour singing Pixies songs and thinking Hmmmm that sound ominous for this here Pixies nut. But I did not realise he did a solo Peel session.

Always thought the FB album version is vastly superior - not just from having a full band backing. I think he referenced EDF's help interpreting the correct chords too.

Triple vinyl. I'm fairly sure it could fit on 2 records, but I guess the guys at 4AD enjoy standing up every 10 mins to change sides. Good for the blood circulation probably.

good point. this would very likely fit on just 2 records.

i think they did this so that each session would be on its own side.
6 sessions, 6 vinyl sides.

and there's actually no reason to put this on two cds. could've easily fit on one. both cds are just under 30 minutes each.
why oh why?

I just listened to this collection on Spotify. Fantastic. Some of these versions have so much more energy than the album version, like the super fast Dead. Plus an awesome Palace of the Brine...! This is wonderful.
