These guys are doing the lords work - pushing Joey on why they keep letting Tom pick the songs. Joey says "now you got me thinking."

Haha, this is great - I watched it just because of this.
They're also pushing them on why they don't self-produce, and it does seem to convince Joey. This might be of particular interest: he then mentions that Charles is looking to record demoes soon, and Joey starts musing on how they could record them in a more spontaneous (but not half-baked way) that either could see release, or bring more elements from the self-produced demoes into the final recording. I think it's around the 25 minute mark. |

PUERTO RICO PIXIE
Man, Frank REALLY rambles in this one, but it's good. His point about the Velvet Underground and The Grateful Dead brings up something that I think about a lot, about how two bands of the same era might not sound alike, but they have generational similarities--the music that was a part of their upbringing, a shared set of references that people of the same age tend to have--that are there in the music and you can hear it if you're paying attention. |

Amazing stuff. Good work those guys. |

Super smashing great seeing him in the Big Issue - never thought that would happen. Don't buy it much any more mostly because there are hardly any homeless people around here selling but I do buy the Xmas copy once a year, there's always someone selling it a Morissons around then - usually some middle eastern looking person who could be a refugee? I never read it though - but I think I've still got last years and possibly others kicking around my cupboard somewhere
I rarely read any of the articles posted up on here but I might check this one later
And he look like Fat (yet more nutritionally balanced looking) Jack Nicholson in the fifth photo down lol |

As a Torontonian, great to hear the Silver Dollar shout out! It was a good venue, but unfortunately got demolished about 5 years ago for a high-rise student res. I think they had to build a "new" Silver Dollar on the ground floor/basement, but sadly I doubt it will be the same. |

They speak with FBF and he says Doggerel wouldn't be there if it wasn't for Tom. Tom constantly pushed him to write songs (while FBF was happy during lockdown, growing corn and breeding chickens)
You got to read this: https://www.humo.be/muziek/black-francis-van-pixies-ik-heb-een-nieuwe-levensregel-zorg-voor-een-bezem-in-elke-kamer~b9d72174/?referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F

Great find! Like the sound of this
"Oh, and speaking of obsessions. A few years ago I was crazy about a song by the British group The Only Ones, 'The Whole of the Law' (from 78, ed.). A love song, culminating in the almost carelessly sung line 'That's it, that's the law / That's the whole of the law'. Those words have something… final. We covered it a few times with the Pixies, but we never released the result.” |

Yeah that’s a good one. Now I’m dying to know what game he got into. I’m trying to picture him playing GTA or Skyrim or something like that and having a hard time!

Mario Party is great. Charles strikes me as a Wario or King Boo…

Doggerel was made on a tight schedule. Because of the whole vinyl production cue/delays. They made up the title before recording it, because they had do hand it in (or something like that).
Tom is perfect for that. Charles even calls Doggerel being Tom playing the band like an orchestra. Like he has done before in interviews.
