It just seemed right man, not too harsh. I have respect for Bono, but at the same time nob just seemed about the right level of insult + it contains all the same letters that make up his name.
Plenty of issues with some of the other mega-fame mongers and mongrels, which may explain why U2 haven't realesed anything worth listening to this century?
I can maybe forgive Beyonce (because I did see her on Top Of The Pops once in the early days and I liked her performance THEN) but Kanye West? Name me one song, or anything that that cock wagon has done that's worth my time. |

Strange, I completely disagree with his apparent interpretation of Monkey Gone To Heaven. Never thought of it that way. |

Also, I think Bono is being a bit of a gender nazi in this clip. "They didn't make boy's music. They made girl's music" Well excuse me Bono but I have always identified with the male gender and I've always liked ABBA! So there ye are, an away ye go ye bleedin eejit. Plus I also like punk music, and whatsmore lot's of girls are also into punk music, for example The Slits and Dream Wife. So stop talking out yer feckin erse. |

Eh but I kind of know what he means. It's like a feeling. It's not a judgment call one way or another. There are lots of movies that feel very feminine to me and movies that feel like guy movies too. I don't see what's so wrong saying the same thing about music. I mean I don't think it should be strict or anything but I definitely understand it. |

I get what you're saying. Like the film Die Hard, that's totally a male energy film (although it will no doubt appeal to women) and then there's the film Mama Mia which is just gay as fuck and totally a chick flick?
What if I said one of my top 5 favourite ABBA songs was "Eagle" though?
Think about it. Eagles are alpha-birds and pretty much own the skies wherever they happen to be. |

The Frank Black forum is divided over Abba!
I thought Bono's list was ok. Not much to talk about. |

Two extreme examples would be the film Girlfriends from 1978, which I just watched. Written and directed and starring women and it's about female friendship and feminist issues and etc. I loved it and I would not hesitate to say it is a feminine movie. Another movie I love is The Last Detail, about two sailors who have to escort a third sailor to prison but feel they should give him one last night of fun in Manhattan. It is such a total guy movie and feels like a guy movie in all these great ways, it's all about male bonding and going from a boy to a man. It also has this darkness and scummy quality that feels very manly to me. You can like all these things no matter who you are!
The way my girlfriend reacts so enthusiastically to ABBA and the way my brain just does not get it...I kind of see what Bono means. But I also think people take statements like his way too seriously these days. Like me and my friends shoot our mouths off all the time about stuff in this way and who cares? But the second somebody famous says it in an interview it's the most controversial statement of the year. I hate that. |

"If you allow me to continue the rant… these government funded public projects propelled American science and research into the present moment... the personal computer, the internet and artificial intelligence. When everyone gets all excited by small government and how the private sector can sort most problems if the government would just get out of the way, I point to how America got to be first in tech…"
100% correct, for all of those who still get nervous when they hear the word "socialism".
Also, I totally agree with the notes on the Sex Pistols, and in particular acknowledging the role of Chris Thomas for producing their album. Amen is all I can say to that.
