I would say Down to the Well Pell Session is better than the Bossanova version.

In fact, the album version of DTTW is one of the tamest in my opinion.

Thoughts? Others?

Not a demo but I like the alternate River Euphrates version. Way better than the album one.

I like the Surfer version better, but that one is good too.

Mhhh... not a fan of the under-mixed vocals. Surfer version sounds more like an interlude. Alternate version sounds like an actual song.

I also like the BBC simili-live Manta Ray version over the B-Side one.

That reminds me picpic, since you know a whole lot more about guitars and stuff than I do:

What is that scratching sound on the Down To The Well Peel Session, about 30 seconds in?

Is that Frank’s guitar? It can’t be Joey’s.

Sounds like BF jap tele if you're talking about the "chicka chicka chika" kind of sound. He's hitting the stings while muting them with his left hand probably.

Dang, I loved his guitar sound back then. (To think he butchered all of his japanese teles brings a tear to my eye. They sounded glorious.
I like his current and more "vintage" guitar sound, but the jap tele sounded wild -and they did the Hey clean tone better than any other guitar he played with)

Yeah we should talk more about guitars here. Even if Pixies rig is pretty simple. Latest trivia: I noticed Charles vintage SG made a comeback on the current tour. That was probably the most exciting thing on this tour. Meh.

My favorite demo is Wave of Mutilation off Doolittle 25. You can hear a nascent Adda Lee in it.

Someone posted a link the demo of What Goes Boom that was on youtube once, just called 'Boom' I think. Only heard it a few times, then it disappeared. Much preferred it to the finished version, I think some of the chords were different as I recall and it just sounded more Pixies-ish to me.

It does get a little annoying how people who have the Indie Cindy demos throw out references to them like we've all heard them.

one day they'll surface and one week later nobody will care anymore.

i do wonder which IC/HC demos exist. is it the whole album, or only a handful of songs?
i believe i've heard/heard of what goes boom, blue eyed hexe, and ring the bell.
also alice prin. (what is alice prin?)
and oona, for HC.

also, when will these come out?!? COME ON NOW! :'-(

The What Goes Boom demo was indeed on YouTube for a while and sounded great.

Would be great to hear the others.
