I was trying to think of another song that had the word chimpanzee in it the other day when listening to Bel Esprit. I couldn't think of any!
I hadn't given much thought to the lyrics yet, not like I have every other Pixies album which I've had years to obsess over.
Got to say though I love the simplicity of the lyrics in 'All I Think About Now'. I can imagine this song being on the Yellow/Orange album with Feldman on keyboards, or on Honeycomb with Charles crooning his way through it, or Pistolero in the same acoustic vein as 85 Weeks. The lyrics are so simple it would just work however it was done.

Ah, come on, the na na nas are great little touch, IMO.
My favorites are probably "Hey Rusty!..." and the alliterations BF uses on a couple of songs. "I should've shook his hand" being the one I remember most.
Bel Esprit/Chimpanzee takes me out of enjoying the song every time. |

not my favourite lyrics, and i'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but i noticed that the lyrics online and in the cd artwork for baal's back say: "all my love has turned back into ice".
but i believe it's actually "my tears are turning into ice".
agreed?
even on the live bonus track on the japanese cd, i believe bf is singing this. so i guess the "all my love" must be old lyrics, from before the song was recorded or played live.

| Yeah absolutely, it is "tears" instead of "love". You can clearly hear the first "tee" part of the word in the mix, though the end is a bit blurrier. |
