1---I can appreciate your impatience. I think there are images somewhere on here (or at least online) of the discs; I recall solid colors for each one.

2---Email his website (the Bureau?) and ask them what's going on with it. If you're not on twitter, maybe join, become a follower of Frank and put something up about the box set. Who knows if he'd see it but maybe it's worth a shot. Maybe see if you can contact Rich Gilbert or any of the other Catholics online and see if they know anything.

3---As others have said, it'll probably become a priority when the Pixies take a break. Maybe even during a short break between tours, though my impression is that all three of them want to keep writing and recording new songs; we could have Pixies output frequency to match Frank solo.

4---In addition to the box set, there needs to be more Catholics complete concerts released, even if it's only digital.

Keep posting about the box sets, maybe Frank will wander in here one day again and see your topic.

Sounds like a tight plan. Keep it up! You've clearly put some thought into this.

Can I suggest you use a different language for the first post of each thread? Or had you already considered that? I bet you had.

"On the bench right now is the packaging for alt-rock legend Frank Black. ‘Frank Black and the Catholics’ 6 CD Boxed Set and book with illustrations.
It’s a total honor for me to be doing this project. They are one of my all-time favorite bands.
Frank Black’s other band may be more popular but the Catholics made some truly awesome rock’n roll y’all.
Most of the entire catalog was recorded ‘live to two track’ by the way… in the music business that means that you are a badass.

I like the IDEA of vinyl here, too, but I'm not sure that I even want to know what would be the price tag on a 13xLP set (that's what the Bureau once said, on Facebook, that the vinyl would work out to be).

Re: VINYL. Maybe do pre-order for box sets to establish demand and size of a "limited" run?

Putting them out as separates would be fine as well as far as I'm concerned. Box sets are sexy and all, sure, but some may just want to spring for their favorites. And some of us already have the vinyl for Catholics albums that were made available in that format, and would like to complete their collection, but not necessarily spring for the entire catalog including duplicates (sacrilege, I know).

A limited run of pre-order box sets, sure, but make limited runs of everything for individual sale as well, Especially the ones that have never been out on vinyl before like Dog in the Sand, Black Letter Days, and Devil's Workshop. Surely those would sell out. Honestly, why not make a limited run of all of them for individual sale. (Including reissuing Cult of Ray, it's the Catholics line-up after all. Have you seen what the CoR vinyl goes for?)

Not trying to make things difficult, I would love to have the vinyl on these, just posing some hopefully win-win possibilities for discussion.

..and after all the sales success that garners, a limited edition reissue of Teenager of the Year LP that includes a special third 10" of the bonus songs.

Frank has said here before that The Bureau plans to put just about everything on vinyl eventually. 4AD owns Teenager of the Year, but Frank owns pretty much his whole non-4AD catalog himself (not sure about Cult of Ray).

The most financially sensible scenario might be to put the weird alphabetical Catholics box set on CD and then do straight reissues of the albums on vinyl. I'd buy it all.

Hopefully, they get around to it. The Bureau is a small operation and works slow.

Yes, here's hoping the parameters delineating the ramifications of production can be navigated fruitfully in the near future thus further enabling a delighted fanbase.

I think that was a test package. I can't believe that the Bureau would have been sitting on a few thousand of those things all this time. That's an incredible waste of inventory costs. If it's there waiting, it's a huge pile of money tied up in production. Sorry, I have a finance background and that's just how my mind works. Maybe they didn't want to take away from Pixies momentum but I don't see how it could. It would probably add.

Anyway, tin foil hat on here - I think it's a test package. Judging from the update Saturday that makes me think it's the case. Either way - still waiting!
