Hey did Fidlar open? How long did they play and what time did the Pixies come on?

According to setlistfm, they played a really short set list for them (only 19 songs). I wonder what the deal was with that. Hope that isn't the case in DC tomorrow night when I'm seeing them...

Yeah, I guess setlist hadn't finished adding the songs when I looked. Still 29 is a little under the norm for them. Plus, I wonder what is up with only 2 new songs. They've been playing 2-3 off every EP at most shows. It's also funny to me that they've only played ONE new song (at Montreal; which nobody seems to have recorded). Last tour they were playing the EP1 songs plus a bunch more new ones (most of which ended up on EP2). Was hoping we'd get a preview of EP3 on this tour...

It's still VERY early in the tour though, and they are surely still perfecting the songs from EPs as it is. It seems logical they haven't added any NEW new songs just yet. |

Yes, 29 songs is correct…I've fixed the setlist on setlist.fm
4 new ones…
What Goes Boom Bagboy Magdalina Indie Cindy
Awesome show. Highlights: I've Been Tired, UMASS/Head On, Planet of Sound, Something Against You At the end of the set Charles just stood at the front of the stage for a while, not waving or bowing, just standing there and drinking it in
---------- Could I stay just for awhile? |

The show was freakin awesome but I am still pretty shocked that they didn't come out for an encore. I've never seen them not do an encore, wtf?
Maybe the set was so great they thought an encore would be a letdown? |

Some interesting insight into why they have not played an encore in the comments here - http://citypaper.net/article.php?Concert-Review-Photos-Pixies-The-Electric-Factory-19396
From my vantage point I could see BF standing at the front of the stage. People were definitely cheering but it sounds like perhaps he didn't think the audience cheered loud enough to warrant an encore? Did anyone see the Twitter post before it was deleted? |

well, not having been there i'm not sure what the crowd was like but if they were, in fact, less than enthusiastic then a lack of an encore is totally justified. the encore (as a concept) is supposed to be the band coming back out after having finished their intended set of music bacause the audience as a whole were not satisfied with the show being over. the idea of an encore has become a total joke where the band goes off stage for a few minutes then come right back on. it's stupid and pointless. it should be a special and (somewhat) unusual event for the band to come back out because the audience simply demanded it. |

Totally agree that, if crowd is not as enthusiastic as it should be lack of encore is justified (Esp if Frank deems it so!!! haha)
Side note: When I used to go see Jethro Tull, at the end of the show, Ian Anderson would always say, like, " OK. we're not gonna go off, make you wait and scream then come back. Let's just do the encore now!" |
