What Goes Boom?
Fattie had it made like a blade in the sun like a push in the bush when you got none ping pong bingo fills a la Ringo analog bong but it ring wrong make some room what goes boom?
I'm a fattie in my caddy with my 'ponic blunt not a stunted runt looking natty cozy as a manger Chet Baker in the changer subs for my dub I think I better make some room what goes boom?
Grace in her lace and her stocking carryin' her bass she really likes to get rocking oh darlin' Grace are we going to get rocking?
I like that slinky little punky little bit funky itty bitty chunky right there little bit lippy a whipped cream hippie zip and unzippy and I want her make some room what goes boom?
Grace in her lace and her stocking carryin' her bass she really likes to get rocking oh darlin' Grace are we going to get rocking?
this is little fu's favorite song on the ep. he will do the exploding pound dogg when frank screams "what goes boom".

The song is great, love the wordplay in the verses. Good energy. Chorus is catchy as hell, and the backing vocals really elevate it. |

Classic Pixies. There I said it. No matter what the other people may think.

My favorite as well. Great build up to the chorus and you're anxious for the song to break. Then it does.

The song keeps growing on me. I like how the vocals on the verse and chorus (or bridge? the big after WHAT...GOES...BOOM) sounds like him Bossanova voice. Wasn't sure if he could do that voice anymore. I could see this one fitting very well on Bossonova. My only complaint is that it could have used some more bite in the production. |

Ok, this song has grown on me ! I still don't like the pseudo metal riff but the rest of the song is very catchy and this is without a doubt the new song that sounds the most like vintage Pixies. |

the parallels between "al vidi la ringo" from Andro Queen and the above mentioned line struck me today.

Absolutely right. I haven't had time to try this, but I think if you replaced Subbacultcha by What Goes Boom on TLM it would fit like a glove.

just got back from my morning jog! had what goes boom cranked on the headphones! no kidding!! here's my thoughts!
the song if filled with rage!! and anger ...frustration?.. but then (very pixies like) it changes and gets soft and beautiful....
Grace in her lace and her stocking carryin' her bass she really likes to get rocking oh darlin' Grace are we going to get rocking?
is it supposed to be that obvious? or is frank giving us a red herring?
so if it is meant to be taken literally here's my angle! i'm just having fun here! no need to fizzle on me
frank and the band...
FRANK: uhm...so..we've been doing the reunion tour for 10 years now ...anyone interested in going into the studio to make some new music?
KIM 1: uhm....hmmm....ah...well....the tour has been going pretty good.....uhmm...well....do we want to rock the boat? anyone want to go smoke a fatty?
FRANK: uhm..well...uh...i wouldn't mind having a conversation about this. .......i did spend some time writing some songs. i just didn't take my daughter to her dance lesson one day and then come back with a bunch of new pixies songs! i did spend some time writing some new music for OUR BAND. WE ARE FUCKING MUSICIANS!! AREN'T MUSICIANS SUPPOSED TO MAKE FUCKING MUSIC!! some people actually think i am a good songwriter. so that's the anger part of the song! but then Frank thinks...."ok. i have matured. i have grown. take a deep breath. it's ok. no need to judge. no need to kick her bass guitar. that won't solve anything." ...the grace part of the song...the forgiveness....and i love how he uses the word "Grace" as a homonym in the first line and then in the 3rd line of that verse.
now the universe has moved on and we are back to pixies bliss!

second verse is about his pimping his cadillac, making some room for his booming subwoofers so he can enjoy his dub and chet baker in the cd changer whilst getting high on hyroponic weed. sounds cozy!
I like to complain |

love this tune. anybody else thrashing out this song would have titled it "make some room" and the second line of the chorus would have been "for what goes boom". but this isn't just anybody. |

the lyric "make some room" coupled with a metal riff is aggressive. but with the two lines combined, "what goes boom" becomes downright scary. reminds me of "things that go bump in the night" and that is classic |
