who says that it was their intention to make the backing vocals sound like kim deal? that's your (false?) assumption.

Ok then. How and what was the point in getting a man to sing backing vocals, only to then make them sound exactly like a Kim Deal sample?

hi, pot (and everyone else!)

Just to clarify: mr. dubs has assisted me on several demos. On a demo for bagboy he sang some bv's (while I was on an errand), and when I came back there is the same exact vox track we are discussing. I did notice that it had sounded like k deal. and I liked it. I kept it. and when the rest of the band and gil norton heard it, they liked it, too, and, so, we kept it. there is no agenda here except to make cool rock music.

He's clearly saying the KD-like vocals were a happy accident. Makes you wonder what the backing vox for rest of the new stuff sounds like...

Fair enough. I just don't want them to go down that road for the album, would rather have a new Kim, you know.

so, pot, first you falsely accused them of having those backing vocals in an attempt to sound exactly like kim deal. in my opinion, that's not a very nice thing to do.

but then, when charles was kind enough not to be offended by this, and instead explained that the backing vocals - that weren't planned to even be recorded - were used because they all liked them, you still manage to read that as "they sounded like kim deal, and that's why we used them." i find that rather shocking, really. it is as if you didn't even (want to?) read the reply. too happy you got a reply from the man himself, that it didn't really matter what it said?

and when people reacted to your fallacious first post, you're all like "oh, i'm a rebel, this is how i am, don't try to censor me."
ha. you're quite the character, pot.
